The fate of one of the most beloved characters in one of the most beloved shows of all time was left in the air. The last we see of Jesse is him driving away from the compound crying tears of relief. But what happens after that? Some, including Vince Gilligan himself, like to believe that he escaped to Alaska, changed his name and lived a peaceful existence. Others think that he was pulled over immediately after leaving the compound. Others believe that he will quickly be nabbed due to his fingerprints being all over the lab. Perhaps the debate will never end, but then again, that was entirely the point.

Don’t you hate it when TV shows end on cliffhangers? “Primeval” follows a group of scientists who try to stop creatures from different time periods from entering and destroying the modern world. And while it aired for five seasons, it never gave viewers a satisfying conclusion. The very final scene of the show sees a beaten version of Matt appearing to his present-day self and telling him that he has to “go back.” Roll credits. While this is a common trope in movies and TV, it still leaves us feeling stung and unsatisfied. What does he need to fix? Why is future Matt all beaten up? We guess we’ll never know.

“My So-Called Life” is one of those one-season wonders that received heaps of critical acclaim but somehow eluded mainstream popularity, leading to its cancellation after only one season. In the final episode, Brian accidentally reveals to Angela that it was actually him who wrote the love letter on Jordan’s behalf. This leaves us with the tantalizing and unanswered question – does Angela ever tell Jordan that she knew it was Brian who wrote the love letter? And if she did, what happened to their relationship? Don’t you hate it when intended season finales are actually series finales instead?

“Six Feet Under” is often considered to have one of the best and most conclusive series finales of all time. We mean, the ending literally shows us every character’s death. It doesn’t get much more conclusive than that! However, there is one question that haunts fans of the show – how did Lisa die? What we do know is that Lisa went missing, and her body was eventually found washed up on shore. But what exactly happened? Did she commit suicide? Was her death an accidental drowning? Was she murdered by her brother-in-law? The latter seems to be the most likely option, given the two were having an affair, but we will never truly know for sure.

Family clearly doesn’t matter, because they didn’t even notice that one of them had gone missing! Judy Winslow is the youngest daughter of Carl and Harriette, and throughout the show’s first four seasons, she attends various schools and grows attached to her older sister Laura. However, Judy simply up and disappears at the end of season four, and no one ever acknowledges her again. The real reason for Judy’s disappearance is that the producers wanted to focus more on breakout character Urkel, and the character of Judy was cut for “budget considerations.” But in-universe, Judy simply vanished, and no one seemed to care where she went.

“Parks and Recreation” has always been a feel-good show, so it only makes sense that its ending is optimistic and uplifting as well. And while we’re pretty sure that Leslie became President of the United States, nothing is definitive. In the final episode, both Leslie and Ben are accompanied by Secret Service agents while attending Garry’s funeral. So, while it seems pretty obvious that either Ben or Leslie is now President, we’re not sure who it is. Did Leslie end up succeeding in her dream of being the first female President of the United States? We like to think she did.

When it comes to dramas, most audiences like to know what happens to the characters. Leaving their fates intentionally ambiguous is one thing. Simply ending their storyline and never bringing it up again is something else entirely. Air Force One is shot down on day 4, killing Keeler’s son Kevin and leaving Keeler in critical condition. After this incident, Charles Logan was sworn in as President, and we never heard from Keeler again. Even the creators of the show have no idea what happened to him. A writer, Howard Gordon, believes that he is living in Maryland, while Manny Coto, another writer, and Jon Cassar, a director, believe that he is dead.

Chalk this up as another question intentionally left unanswered. Following Will’s death, Alicia discovers that he had called her and left a mysterious voicemail on her phone. However, an interruption prevents anything substantial from being said. While she investigates the call with those involved in the courtroom shooting, she finds no concrete answers, and the reason for the call remains a mystery. Creator Robert King told E! Online, “We kind of wanted it to be never answered because it’s really what Alicia decides for herself.” We guess we are left to decide for ourselves, as well.

“Mork & Mindy” was a successful spinoff of “Happy Days” starring Robin Williams as an alien who moves in with a human woman named Mindy. In the series finale, “Gotta Run”, Mork and Mindy end up getting stuck in a time vortex after attempting to time travel away from a violent alien. As the series was cancelled before this could be resolved, the network ran an unaired episode to serve as a proper series finale, but this only ended up leaving massive holes in the plot. The canon and intended ending sees Mork and Mindy travelling through the vortex, leaving their fates a tantalizing mystery.

The series finale of “Lost” has always divided fans. Some believe that it was an emotionally satisfying conclusion, while others were left disappointed by the numerous unanswered questions.
