VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton WRITTEN BY: Alex Crilly-Mckean and Sean Aitchison
The coolest "Ben 10" aliens make us wish we had the Omnitrix. Our countdown includes Ghostfreak, Big Chill, Rath, and more!

#20: Grey Matter

Top 10 Most Heartbreaking Grey's Anatomy Moments

He might not be as big or strong as Ben’s other aliens, but what this little guy lacks in brawn, he more than makes up for in brains. Grey Matter has a vast intelligence that makes him capable of creating weapons from spare parts and fixing even the most complicated alien technology. His small size even comes in handy when fitting into tight spaces to tinker with or repair something. Don’t let appearances fool you when it comes to Ben’s Galvan form; Grey Matter is one of his coolest and most useful aliens.

#19: Ghostfreak

Coming straight out of your nightmares is this freaky phantom. Relying on the abilities you’d expect from traditional ghost lore, Ben can fly, phase through solid matter, become invisible and even possess living things while in this form. Oh, and he has a chilling voice to go along with his haunting physique. Not just any old spirit, Ghostfreak is based on the DNA of the crafty and villainous Ectonurite: Zs'Skayr. When going up against the things that go bump in the night, Ghostfreak is on hand to bump back.

#18: Bloxx

Introduced in the first episode of “Ben 10: Omniverse,” this alien form is known as a Segmentasapien and is easily one of the coolest transformations in Ben’s arsenal. Bloxx has a segmented body which can shift, extend, and build into various forms and weapons, which turns Ben into the ultimate Lego set. Even if he’s not the strongest alien in the Omnitrix, Bloxx still makes our Top 10 solely for how much fun his powers look. Seriously, who wouldn’t want to turn their body into indestructible blocks?

#17: Blitzwolfer

What’s better than a werewolf? An alien werewolf! Equipped with sharpened senses, incredible agility, and an ultrasonic howl, the entity originally known as “Benwolf” is a creature of the night capable of tracking and hunting down any unfortunate prey. Unlike most of the aliens Ben has on hand, his transformation into Blitzwolfer can take hours, a fact that only adds to his werewolf-like qualities. We’re glad this Loboan badass was given a chance to shine in the later series, with one of his more memorable moments being that time it fought a ninja on top of Big Ben.

#16:Ripjaws

Though he was pretty much forgotten about after the original series, this aquatic alien definitely deserves some love as one of Ben’s most unique and underrated aliens. On top of having a kick-ass design that looks straight out of an old monster movie, Ripjaws can breathe underwater and swim at great speeds, but his real strength lies in his eponymous jaws, which are capable of ripping apart even the toughest metals. Ripjaws also has the neat ability to transform his fish tail into legs and a loincloth, an interesting design choice that’s just one of the many reasons we love this amphibious alien.

#15: Wildmutt

He may not be like any earthly canine, but that’s what makes him such a beast. While not as cognitive as some of Ben’s other forms, Wildmutt is a savage when it comes to fighting. With a superior sense of smell, enhanced strength, a deadly set of razor fangs, and claws of a Vulpimancer, there’s no point in trying to outrun this alien form. Somewhere between an ape and a dog in his movements, Wildmutt’s even able to throw a punch if he needs to. You can’t run, and you definitely can’t hide. Maybe it’s best to just play dead?

#14: Cannonbolt

Sometimes rolling up into a ball can be useful, at least if you’re Cannonbolt, Ben’s Arburian Pelarota form. With a hard outer shell and the ability to spin at breakneck speeds, this alien allows Ben to shoot around like a giant cannon ball, bringing the hurt to whoever crosses his path. Though his abilities are pretty one-note, Cannonbolt earns a spot on our list both for his awesome design and for the fact that he made the cut for the current reboot’s new alien lineup.

#13: Four Arms

Top 10 Coolest Ben 10 Aliens

Simple name? Yes. Extremely powerful? Definitely. With its four powerful appendages, this bulky alien is all about strength, and is able to punch and break through most objects with ease. A Tetramand, Four Arms’ enhanced muscles allow him to jump several feet into the air, and make him virtually invulnerable to weapons like lasers or fire. Despite his size and slow gait, it’s easy to see why he was often Ben’s alien of choice when it came time to brawl.

#12: Humungousaur

What’s big, strong, nearly indestructible and can grow up to 60 feet tall? If you answered Humungousaur, then you’d be correct. There is no denying that this is one of Ben’s strongest, and by extension, coolest aliens. During the “Alien Force” and “Ultimate Alien” series, Humungousaur was one of Ben’s favorite aliens; his enormous size and strength making him a powerful go-to form for every tough battle the young hero faced. Plus, let’s not forget about this Humungousaur’s “Ultimate” form, which evolved the alien into a walking dino-tank.

#11: Upgrade

With the human race so technologically dependent, it’s handy to have an alien that can turn it all against any pesky invaders. A Galvanic Mechamorph able to merge, manipulate and—yes—upgrade any technology it comes into contact with, this living blob of liquid metal can turn practically everything into a weapon. Think Terminator's T-1000 with a dash of Robocop thrown in for good measure. From computers and vehicles to interstellar tech, there’s next to no limit on what this tech-savvy alien can create.

#10: Snare-oh

Originally known as “Benmummy,” this form was achieved when Ben was attacked by a real-life mummy... well, a Thep Khufan if you wanna get technical. Eventually renamed Snare-oh, this mummy-like ass-kicker became quite a prolific addition to Ben’s alien arsenal. With the ability to stretch his bandages to great lengths and reshape his body at will; this alien makes a tough opponent in battle. Not to mention, it can deliver the mother of all paper cuts!

#9: Spidermonkey

For a concept as simple as taking a real animal’s name literally, this alien is actually one of Ben’s coolest. An Arachnichimp from Aranhaschimmia, Spidermonkey has the agility and strength of a monkey and all the abilities of a spider rolled into one super-cool alien. Spidermonkey is capable of shooting webbing from his tail, can stick to any surface, and has plenty of strength to boot. He might not be the most powerful of Ben’s aliens, but he is definitely one of the most unique.

#8: Big Chill

Another Top 10 Coolest Ben 10 Aliens

What’s cooler than a ghost? How about an ice-powered ghost? Big Chill’s unique set of powers and badass “hooded phantom” design make him one of the coolest aliens, both literally and figuratively, that the Omnitrix has to offer. This moth-like creature is armed with various cryokinetic powers, wings capable of flight, and the ability to turn intangible, all of which have proved incredibly useful in both combat and stealth situations. While the “Omniverse” redesign of the character was not particularly well-received, Big Chill is still one of Ben’s greatest aliens.

#7: Alien X

Top 10 Best Alien Documentaries

If there’s an alien god, it might just look something like this. Undoubtedly the most powerful alien in Ben’s arsenal, Alien X—a Celestialsapien—has complete control over time and space, able to warp reality in any way he sees fit. Unfortunately, there’s a huge drawback: Ben isn’t the only consciousness controlling the omnipotent being, and any disagreement between the three personalities leaves the body motionless and open to harm. Although that’s a double-edged sword, when you can will an entirely new universe into being, the payoff might just be worth it.

#6:Feedback

Feedback means a whole lot to Ben, so much so that it he took it as a huge loss when the alien was forcibly removed from his Omnitrix forever. It’s not hard to see why Ben loves Feedback; he’s one of his most powerful aliens, since his power is to absorb and redirect all forms of energy. Plus, check out that design, what’s not to love about an alien with a plug for a tail? And let’s not forget that he absorbed the energy of a universe-destroying bomb before it could wipe out all of existence, that’s gotta be worth a few extra points.

#5: Way Big

Also in:

Top 10 Strangest Aliens in Ben 10

Sometimes bigger is better! A To'kustar, and the largest of all Ben’s forms, Way Big is as strong as you’d expect a towering alien to be. This creature is one of the few that’s actually managed to lay waste to two of Ben’s greatest enemies without breaking a sweat. When you need to defeat an army, or a giant alien elephant, Way Big’s the alien for the job! Oh, did we mention he has a built-in cosmic ray and can create and control cosmic storms?

#4: Swampfire

When Ben returned to his heroic ways in the midst of his teenage years, we were first introduced to his new roster with this agricultural alien! Not only is Swampfire able to manipulate plant life, this Methanosian can also turn itself into a living flamethrower by igniting the methane in its palms. With added bonuses like being fireproof, the ability to regenerate his limbs, and having a “blossomed” form that increases his mastery over plants, Swampfire fast became a fan favorite.

#3:Diamondhead

Everything about Diamondhead screams cool, from his awesome design to his unique and surprisingly powerful abilities, not to mention the fact that he’s been in every entry of the franchise, including the 2016 reboot. Diamondhead’s dense crystalline body makes him virtually indestructible and incredibly strong, giving him plenty of defensive and offensive capabilities. All the cool features that make up Diamondhead earned him a top three spot on our list, so we guess you could say that diamonds are a boy’s best friend, too.

#2: Rath

This particular alien has a mind of his own, one that is, interestingly enough, based on the personalities of Marvel’s Wolverine and eccentric professional wrestlers. If that’s still not cool enough for you, then take a look at Rath’s powers: immense strength, impressive speed, extreme durability, and nearly unlimited stamina, all of which are powerful enough to rival even Ben’s strongest aliens. He has no problem withstanding a point blank laser blast or surviving a fall of several hundred feet, and his teeth are strong enough to bite a sword! How many aliens can claim that?

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

XLR8

Chromastone

Echo Echo

Atomix

Jetray

#1: Heatblast

He lit up screens as the first of Ben Tennyson’s alien forms, and hasn’t dimmed since! A walking inferno capable of manipulating flames in a variety of creative and destructive ways, there’s no better firepower than this Pyronite firespewer. Heatblast more than lives up to his name and can literally make his own blazing hover-board. With killer voice work in the original series provided by the one and only Steven Blum, this is one alien we hope never chills out.
