Top 5 Things to Remember Before Attack On Titan Final Season

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 5 Things to Remember Before Attack On Titan Final Season.

For this list, we’re going to be giving you a refresher course on the highlights you should know before going into Attack on Titan’s fourth and final season. In case it wasn’t obvious, we’re going to be spoiling the heck out of the latter half of season three here, so you have been warned!

If we missed a vital plot point, make like Levi and go beast mode in the comments!

#5: Queen Historia

Hard to believe that when we met this girl, she was nothing more than a dainty flower. Now she’s up in here running things! Following the revelation about the Reiss family, not only did Historia rebel and take up her true name, but she delivered the killing blow that put an end to her father and cemented herself as a hero of the people. With their ally in the highest seat of authority, the Survey Corp has never been as respected, and it looks like under her rule life might get better inside the walls. That being said, she’s going to have to get used to that new power of hers…

#4: Zeke

So that bastard Beast Titan that’s been going around and making hell for everyone? Turns out he’s got quite the history with Eren. And by that we mean he’s actually his half-brother. Born from Grisha Jaeger’s first marriage to Dina Fritz and brainwashed by the Marley’s propaganda, Zeke is so much worse than we could have imagined. He sold his parents out, leading to their torture and supposed death, is leading Marley’s batch of Titan Shifters on their mission to destroy the Eldian race, and believes his cause to be a just one. Both in and out of his Titan form, the man is a monster in dire need of being put down.

#3: Bertholdt's Death & Armin's Awakening

Reiner may live to see another day, but the same can’t be said for his partner in crime. Following Armin’s sacrifice, Eren and the rest were able to defeat and capture Bertholdt. That wasn’t the end of it though, as following on from Levi’s choice to save Armin over Erwin with the Titan serum – they needed a catalyst to complete the transformation process. You know what that means? Yep, Bertie got devoured. His death not only brought an end to one of the Survey Corp’s biggest traitors, but ensured that Armin would inherit the power of the Colossal Titan for himself.

#2: Marley

Turns out Erwin was right all along – there are people beyond the walls. Far across the sea in a technologically advanced nation known as Marley, and from what we’ve seen so far, the majority of them are in dire need of a Titan-sized thrashing. Segregating the Eldian race due to their heritage, Marley and its regime is very much akin to a fascist state. Seeking to control the Founding Titan’s power for itself, they’ve not only got an army of brainwashed soldiers to do their bidding, but have the majority of the Titan Shifters at their disposal, all equally warped in their obsession to defend their twisted overseers.

Before we reveal our number one pick, here are a few honourable mentions

Eren Doesn’t Have Long to Live

#1: Grisha Jaeger’s Past

What was in the basement? Well, after what felt like eons of waiting, we got our answer; an exposition explosion no-one was expecting. Born in Marley, Grisha was an Eldian who joined a resistance movement to liberate his people, even marrying a woman of royal blood named Dina, and having a son named Zeke. Alas, their plans went out the window when his own child betrayed him. Saved at the last second from execution by an Eldian double-agent, Grisha was granted the power of the Attack Titan and sent to Paradis Island. From there, everything falls into place, right up until he slaughtered the Reiss Family and had Eren eat him to pass on the Founding Titan. What a life.
