Top 5 Weird & Awesome Celebrity Cookbooks
When stars make recipe books, they can be wonderful... and a little wacky. For this list, we're counting down our picks for the Top 5 Weird & Awesome Celebrity Cookbooks! Some of these celebrities may really surprise you! Did you know that 2 Chainz, Amy Sedaris, Coolio and Jeff Foxworthy are big foodies?
#5: “I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence”
Amy Sedaris
Amy Sedaris is an actress and comedian, as well as the sister of famous comedic memoirist David Sedaris, with whom she collaborates regularly. Little known fact about her: she at one time was running a side hustle business from her apartment called Dusty Food Cupcakes, which made cupcakes and cheeseballs. While this cookbook employs a generally lighthearted tone to deliver its hilarious hospitality advice, Sedaris does offer up real recipes and tips that readers can actually use. “I Like You” stayed on the New York Times Bestseller List for over 12 weeks after its initial release, which is a testament to the unique wit of its author.
#4: “The Redneck Grill: The Most Fun You Can Have with Fire, Charcoal and a Dead Animal”
Jeff Foxworthy
In case the title didn’t give it away, this collection of recipes is for all you meat lovers out there. Funnyman Foxworthy published this cookbook back in 2005, offering the type of fare that pairs best with a nice, cold brew. From Beer Can Chicken to Wild Turkey Fingers, the recipes have you flipping birds on the barbeque with surprisingly delicious results. Don’t worry though; “The Redneck Grill” has the other food groups covered too! You can pair your delicious meat with some Sizzling Red Onions, and then follow it up with Maple-Grilled Pound Cake. With this cookbook on hand, you’ll be one well-fed redneck.#3: “#MEALTIME”
2 Chainz
In 2013, when artist 2 Chainz released the deluxe edition of his second album, entitled “B.O.A.T.S. II #METIME”, he decided to include an accompanying cookbook of his own creation, the aptly named #MEALTIME. The book features 14 recipes, and also comes with a warning from Universal Music Group that they are in no way responsible for the outcome of your at-home cooking. The introduction further states that these are meant to be made when you’re on a tour bus, but all things considered, they’re pretty elaborate. They’re also hilarious, with instructions like “Put on your Versace apron,” being listed as the first step in a recipe for Teriyaki Salmon.
#2: “How to Use a Meat Cleaver: Secrets and Recipes from a Mob Family’s Kitchen”
Renee, Lana & Jennifer Graziano
If you’ve ever wanted to dine like a mobster, this book is for you. After the runaway success of VH1’s reality show “Mob Wives”, which follows the day-to-day lives of several women who are in some way connected to the Mafia, the Graziano ladies decided to create a cookbook. The three sisters collaborated on this project – “Mob Wives” executive producer Jennifer Graziano, one of the show’s stars, Renee Graziano, and restaurant owner Lana Graziano. The recipes are, of course, heavily influenced by traditional Italian cuisine and, as an added bonus for fans, the book includes several juicy stories from the family.
#1: “Cookin' With Coolio: Five Star Meals at a 1 Star Price”
Coolio
In the blurb for his cookbook, Grammy Award winning artist Coolio claims to have developed an entire new cuisine - “Ghetto Gourmet”. Featuring many recipes you may recognize from his web series, “Cookin' With Coolio”, the book combines many different cuisines to create a theme that is admittedly rather unique. You won’t be able to stop yourself from laughing when you read through the hilarious and oftentimes explicit instructions. All the recipes are made with affordable and easy to source ingredients, so why not give it a try?
