Independent Country
The south-eastern European country of Montenegro is relatively small, and is home to just over 600 thousand people. Montenegro was once part of Yugoslavia, and earned its spot as an independent country in 2006.

Part of this country’s coastline is found on the beautiful Adriatic Sea, and this is just one of the many tourist draws this country displays.
Climate
The climate of Montenegro is a mild one: summer months are perfect for outdoor activities like lying on the beach, going on a fishing trip or taking a scenic boat ride.
Geography
The geographical landscape of Montenegro is quite diverse. While parts of the country are quite flat, the country is also known for its spectacular hills, mountains and valleys. In fact, its mountains are some of the rockiest territory on the continent.

Montenegrin art and architecture are also beautiful, and definitely worth a tourist’s time. Many notable structures feature a Byzantine influence, and there are a number of historically significant constructions from various time periods. Some of the most striking architectural attractions are the country’s religious buildings.
Cuisine
Montenegrin cuisine shares similarities with other Mediterranean cooking. For example, its cured meats, bread, cheese and use of seafood are all reminiscent of Italian food. In fact, seafood is an important part of the diet.
A Welcoming Country
Though the tourism industry in this country suffered through a war, it has recently seen a resurgence, and today Montenegro is a beautiful and welcoming country for all manner of visitors.
