Which Modern Family Character Are You Based on Your Sign?

Manny shows time and time again that he walks to the beat of his own drum and he certainly doesn’t care about what anyone thinks of him. He’s truly himself all the time, just like a typical Pisces. He’s also artistic and has an appreciation for the finer things in life- even early in the series when he’s just a kid. In fact, he’s something of an old soul who always acts wise beyond his years. Like some Pisces, he also has a sneaky side - and don’t try to pull a fast one on him because he’ll ALWAYS know.

Haley’s on and off boyfriend Dylan may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he sure does have his heart in the right place. Like so many Aquarians, he seems to have his head in the clouds a lot of the time and doesn’t quickly catch on to the things happening around him. He does have an artistic side, and pens his own songs that may not be appropriate, but they sure are catchy.

Among the extended Pritchett clan, there’s no question that Alex is the smartest. She’s fully aware of her intelligence, and sometimes uses it to mock her siblings who are decidedly less clever than she is. Her social skills may be a bit lacking, but like many Capricorns she doesn’t place a huge emphasis on popularity or having a large social circle anyway. She has had an impressive level of independence from a young age that she maintains throughout the show.

The primary quality that Luke seems to display in the early seasons of the show is an utter cluelessness that is both charming and hilarious. He’s certainly not the most intelligent of the Dunphy clan, but he makes up for his lack of smarts with a sweet kindness that he displays throughout the show. His relationship with Phil is especially enviable, as he always encourages his dad no matter what. We’re glad that the show expanded Luke’s character as he got older.

When we first meet the Pritchett family, the newly adopted Lily is the youngest of the brood. Over the years, she seems to relish in the attention she gets being the baby of the family, and can sometimes act out when she feels that role is being taken away from her. She definitely inherited some of Mitchell’s sarcasm and wit, and throughout the show surprises us time and time again with her scathing one-liners.

Libras can often seem a bit closed off, but deep down they’re all big softies. We see this on display with Jay, the patriarch of the family, who when we first meet him seems to be a crotchety old man without much patience for the people around him. As we watch his character grow however, we see the layers that he has and are able to view him being more emotional when he lets his guard down.

Virgos are nothing if not regimented and Mitchell displays this quality to a tee. His career as a lawyer suits him well because he’s well organized and is supremely focused on his work. He sometimes needs a reminder to lighten up a bit, which many Virgos probably relate to. He and Cam make such a great team because of their different strengths, with Cam encouraging his partner to be a little more lighthearted.

If there’s one quality that Leos are known for, it’s a love of being the center of attention and Gloria definitely has this in spades (as does Cam - but we’ll get to him later!). And with her looks, it would be hard for her to be a wallflower! She has a fiery personality and does not like to be wronged, which is typical for a Leo. She’s also incredibly loyal to her family and her Colombian roots, and this pride in her heritage is a trait that many Leos share.

Cancers are often recognized for their maternal qualities, so it would make sense that Claire would be a Cancer considering the priority she puts on her family. While she does clash with all three of her children from time to time, it’s clear that her love for them trumps everything else. Though she sometimes puts her foot in her mouth, she’s always ready with an apology when the occasion calls for it, ensuring that the relationships that are important to her stay intact.

Like many Geminis, Haley can be a bit flighty and fickle, vacillating between passions in life, unable to fully commit to anything. We see this on display when it comes to her relationships with men, as she often seems to be unaware of what she wants. She has a somewhat contentious relationship with her family because of their perception of her as being “dumb” and she often clashes with Claire because of how controlling she is. Of course though, Haley is incredibly popular and likable, which is something many Geminis share.

Cam is governed by his passions like so many Tauruses and he lives his life to the fullest no matter what anyone thinks of him. He likes attention and has a flair for the dramatic, often conflating issues and assuming worst case scenarios, but it’s always because he cares so much about the people around him. He gave up his career to be a stay at home dad and take care of Lily, but his passion for music and the world of art shine through in his day to day regardless.

From the moment we meet Phil in the pilot episode, his personality is clear. He’s a man who has a real zest for life and there’s a childlike joy that permeates his being. He can get enthusiastic about just about anything, and when he does, he always gives it his all, just like a typical Aries. He’s practically good natured to a fault and can take a lot of abuse, but eventually he can blow a gasket when things get to be too much for him. His fun-loving persona makes him the perfect match for Claire, who often needs a hand with letting loose.
