10 Hidden Secrets in Ghost of Tsushima
Welcome to MojoPlays, and today, we’re taking a look at 10 hidden secrets you may not have come across while playing “Ghost of Tsushima”!
Resource Spawn Points
If you ever found yourself hurting for resources to get more sticky bombs, kunai, and wind chimes, well, there is an easy way to find each of those. One of the things “Ghost of Tsushima” doesn’t tell you is that you can find each type of resource in very specific locations. Materials to craft explosives will always spawn under homes and wagons. Resources for wind chimes will always be at the very front of houses and shops. As for arrows, you can always find those laying around Mongolian tents and watch towers. Now, you can spend less time wandering around for materials!A Seeker’s Attire
When “Ghost of Tsushima” launched its Director’s Cut version in 2021, many folks weren’t too keen on spending more money on a game they already owned. Those who did pony up the dough found that there was more added to the game, and even more added after the Director’s Cut launch. In February 2022, “Ghost of Tsushima” got an update that added a special shrine in the northern area of Iki Island. Head over to retrieve a special set of armor that was once used by a legendary Seeker. Say, you know what game launched in February 2022? A little PS5 gem called “Horizon Forbidden West”.Delsin’s Beanie
Aloy isn’t the only PlayStation character to get a shoutout from “Ghost of Tsushima”. Sucker Punch Productions has long been known to throw in some references to their previous games. “Ghost of Tsushima” pays tribute to the IP that came before it just as that IP did with its predecessor. Head to the Omi Monastery and climb to the very top of the temple to obtain a new headband called “Band of the Second Son”. But that isn’t the only reference to Delsin Rowe. Iki Island hides a small mural dedicated to Delsin’s twin birds icon as well.Baku the Voiceless
If you thought you saw and did everything there is to do in “Ghost of Tsushima”, chances are you didn’t go for a New Game Plus run. Yes, New Game Plus hides a few special secrets of its own, one of them being this NPC you will never meet during an initial playthrough. Baku the Voiceless is a special merchant that offers new ways to experience “Ghost of Tsushima”. Through a new currency called “Ghost Flowers”, you can obtain new armor and charms that will grant bonus abilities or fun gimmicks. Armor will let you dress as Ryuzo or Ishikawa while various charms will offer fun new mechanics like making combat more visceral, impose a greater challenge by making enemy attacks insta-kill you, or even recruit Mongolian dogs by simply petting them. So, go nuts with the new charms! The Singing Crickets
While the game does encourage you to go for Sashimono banners, Inari shrines, and the like, there is one collectible it leaves entirely up to you to discover for yourself - the singing crickets. Tsushima hides twenty of these crickets across the land at various locations like cemeteries and temples. Collect five singing crickets, and you’ll unlock a brand new ability - change the weather with your flute! Collect ten for another song. Collect all twenty to become a deity and change the weather whenever you please! Just make sure you visit an old friend’s grave after the campaign to pay your respects…and earn you a nice PlayStation trophy.Bowing to Landmarks
Occasionally, you might find an inconspicuous location marked with a sign of a person bowing. None of the locations seem all that special, but those who have bowed in these areas found another charming layer to “Ghost of Tsushima”. Bowing at these landmarks will trigger fun animations and interactions. Finding all of these hidden altars won’t get you anything, but they offer a brief respite from all the intense action.Origami Table
Once the adventure ends, most players probably hustled back out into the world to clean up side missions or tackle Iki Island. But how many stayed behind and looked around the house Jin resides in? One of the coolest rewards you’ll find for finishing “Ghost of Tsushima” is a table covered in origami. It’s not just any origami either - it’s PlayStation origami! Every piece is made to resemble one of the many PS4 exclusives we saw during that console’s lifetime as well as some of the studios behind them. Think you can name off every game represented here?Sakai Horse Armor
Horse armor may not have a great reputation in video games, but we promise you “Ghost of Tsushima” isn’t going to nickel and dime you for such a commodity. Although, the Iki Island expansion did add a special horse armor for you to obtain. All you have to do is travel to the island and complete the Mythic Tale called “The Legacy of Kazumasa Sakai”. Not only does your horse get increased damage resistance, your horse can also charge into enemies way harder than before!Cooper Clan Armor
It’s been talked about to death as it was spoiled the second “Ghost of Tsushima” dropped, but in case you weren’t playing the game at the time, yes, there is a “Sly Cooper” easter egg in “Ghost of Tsushima”. Unfortunately, you are going to have to get super deep into the story in order to find it. Once you’ve unlocked the third region of Tsushima, try to locate Iwai Village and head east. Along the coast, you’ll find a cliff where a Pillar of Honor sits with a brand new sword kit brandishing a raccoon tail. And yes, this is just one piece of a set! You can find a Cooper clan headband at Jogaku Temple and a special dye for the Gosaku Armor called Ocean’s Guardian. Put them all together for a special trophy dedicated to the family of famous thieves! The Platinum Reward
We know not everyone is a trophy hunter. Many folks simply do not care about PlayStation’s fun little system of trophies and Platinums. But what if we told you there is a reward waiting for you? Yes, “Ghost of Tsushima” is among the few games that actually reward you for obtaining the Platinum trophy! Not only do you get a special message from Sucker Punch Productions, you also get an exclusive dye to equip onto your armor. Look at that shine!Did you find any of these secrets for yourself?
