The Best Big Bang Theory Blooper of Every Season
Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the The Best “Big Bang Theory” Blooper of Every Season
For this list, we’ll be looking at all the times the “Big Bang” cast messed up and picking the best one from each of the twelve seasons.
Make no mistake about it. We would love to know what you think in the comments below.
Season 1: Oops!... He Did It Again
“The Bat Jar Conjecture”
In Season 8, Penny and Sheldon are able to stare into each other’s eyes for four minutes without talking, but in this Season 1 blooper, Kaley Cuoco and Jim Parsons can’t go ten seconds without busting a gut. The scene in question involves Penny quizzing Sheldon and Leonard on pop culture and asking them who sang “Oops!... I Did It Again.” Well, the question confuses Sheldon so much that he just stares at Penny and his eyes start to twitch. In the version that aired, this twitching and staring goes on for about five seconds. However, in the blooper, the director lets it go longer, until neither Parsons nor Cuoco can hold it together.
Season 2: Prepared
“The Financial Permeability”
Scar said it, the hyenas said it, and we’re sure that on any other day Johnny Galecki can say the word “prepared” without any problems. But on the day they were filming the Season 2 episode, “The Financial Permeability,” to say he had problems would be an understatement. The more he tried to get it right, the more he got it wrong. Everyone can flub a line or a word, but when they do it over and over and over and over again with the same word, well that’s the stuff that classic bloopers are made of.
Season 3: Johnny Woke up Early
“The Gothowitz Deviation”
Sometimes a rather innocuous mistake can become a top-notch blooper based on the actor’s response to the error. As was the case with this blooper from Season 3. In the scene, Sheldon and Penny are having a conversation in the morning following the first night that she spends at their apartment with Leonard. Eventually, Leonard walks into the kitchen to join them. However, in the outtake, Johnny Galecki comes in before he’s supposed to, leading to Kaley Cuoco greeting him by his real name and Galecki covering his mistake with a very funny line about waking up early.
Season 4: Live Long and Prosper
“The Thespian Catalyst”
In the Season 4 episode, “The Thespian Catalyst,” Penny gives Sheldon acting lessons in an effort to help him be a better teacher. They act out a piece of “Star Trek” fan fiction Sheldon wrote when he was ten, with Penny playing the part of Spock. In her role as Spock, she attempts the Vulcan salute. And let’s just say the way she does it is illogical. Although, even after being corrected, you can see that she still doesn’t get it quite right in the version of the scene that made it to broadcast.
Season 5: Sound Delay
“The Weekend Vortex”
The key to a good joke is timing. And the key to a good blooper is that timing being off. At least in the case of this funny oopsie from Season 5. In the actual scene that made it to air, Howard pulls out his phone and makes a whipping motion, which in turn activates the “whipped” sound. Perfect timing, funny joke! However, in a previous take, Simon Helberg pulled out his phone, made the whipping motion, then everyone waited a couple seconds until the whipping sound activated. See? Timing off, funny blooper!
Season 6: The Spanking
“The Fish Guts Displacement”
In the Season 6 episode, “The Fish Guts Displacement,” Sheldon takes care of a sick Amy. But when he realizes that she’s been faking it for a few days, he punishes her with a spanking (which she’s clearly even more enthused about). It’s become a fan-favorite scene. And as funny as it is for us to watch, it looks like it was equally awkward for Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons to film. In the same vein is a scene from earlier in the episode where Sheldon rubs Vaporub on Amy’s chest. It took a few takes to get this one as well.
Season 7: Tough Bernadette
“The Scavenger Vortex”
We just want to say that it’s never okay to hit your co-workers… Though it’s probably a little different if the director tells you to. As was the case with actor Melissa Rauch towards Johnny Galecki in this scene from Season 7. In the first take, you can see Rauch give Galecki a little shove with her hand. But that isn’t aggressive enough, and the director asks her to put a little more oomph into it. She does so on the next two takes, going from hand to fist to full arm to the chest. In the end, we guess the arm was a bit too much since they ended up going with the fist in the scene that aired.
Season 8: Spit in My Mouth
“The Clean Room Infiltration”
Being a good actor requires many things, among which is the ability to concentrate, to ignore distractions around you and focus on your character and lines. And as good as Johnny Galecki was at doing that, there are some things he just couldn’t ignore. In this scene from the Season 8 episode, “The Clean Room Infiltration,” Howard and Leonard are having an argument, and from an outsider’s POV, it looks like Galecki just forgets his line. But after stuttering for a moment, he reveals the reason why he couldn’t go on with the scene.
Season 9: “Thor & Dr. Jones”
“The 2003 Approximation”
In Season 9, Raj and Howard form their band and get their first gig performing at the comic book store. Which is where they debut their super-catchy song, “Thor & Dr. Jones.” In the scene that aired on TV, you can catch a glimpse of Kaley Cuoco laughing a little when Howard starts hitting the high notes. However, in the take that didn’t make it to air, she cracks up completely. But can you blame her? Howard takes his high note vamping to a ridiculous level in this one. You try not cracking up! Since you’re already laughing, we just have to throw in this other Season 9 blooper in which Zack messes up Neil deGrasse Tyson’s name, but not how he was supposed to.
Season 10: Eewwww!
“The Cohabitation Experimentation”
When you’re watching from home, it’s easy to forget that “The Big Bang Theory” was filmed in front of a live studio audience. But the actors can’t forget. Partly because they’re looking right at them as they perform. In the case of this Season 10 blooper, sometimes the audience does more than just laugh out loud at the jokes. Like the woman in the audience who has a not-so-pleasant reaction to Johnny Galecki announcing that he’s going to put on some music and dance in his underwear. Hey, maybe she was just on a wavelength with what Penny was thinking.
Season 11: Bitchcoin
“The Bitcoin Entanglement”
Have you ever thought about how Bitcoin can be modified to sound like “Bitchcoin?” Well, to be honest, we hadn’t either, until we saw this funny blooper from Season 11. In the scene when Penny asks what the guys are doing, Kunal Nayyar is supposed to tell her they’re looking for an old laptop with Bitcoin on it. But instead of saying “Bitcoin,” Nayyar has a slight PG-13 slip of the tongue. As funny as the blooper is, it’s made that much funnier by his and the other guy’s reactions to his unintentional wordplay, though we’re not sure we want to know what “Bitchcoin” is.
Season 12: Keep Trying
“The Confirmation Polarization”
As Sheldon, Jim Parsons often had a lot of lengthy, science-laden monologues to deliver, and even after eleven seasons, he still found himself getting tongue-tied at times. As with this line about kaon decay experiments and super-asymmetry from Season 12’s “The Confirmation Polarization.” It sure seems smooth and easy in the scene we all watched on TV, but a look at the multiple takes it took to get there shows otherwise. Parsons tries and tries again, but each time there’s some part of the line that trips him up, much to our delight.
