Class is in session… we wish. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we are counting down our picks for the top 10 Anime schools we wish were real.
For this list, we'll be looking at the academic institutions in anime that we would to actually exist.
Special thanks to our users Spideyfan-0913, Blackraven238, 7AMart1, KnightPhantom, Roperdoper56, Jacob Lecours, blademon4, Chris Bozeman, v1v13nn3, and Ariana Taller for submitting the idea on our interactive suggestion tool: WatchMojo.comsuggest/%20Top%2010%20Anime%20Schools
#10: Southern Cross High
“Star Driver” (2010-11)
Located on the beautiful Southern Cross Isle, should you choose to attend this particular school, you will be greated with a plethora of talented and good-looking students.
And although it’s a great selling point, it won’t be the sea or the shoreline that will have your attention, it’ll be the giant mechanical beings locked up beneath it.
Known as Cybodies, these badass beasts operate inside of a pocket dimension known as Zero Time and are the key objective of the villainous Glittering Crux Brigade. But when the sun’s up, keep it cool and protect those shrine maidens.
#9: Luna Nova Magical Academy
“Little Witch Academia” Series (2013-)
Anime Hogwarts? Sign us up. Established to train the next generation of witches, you can expect the curriculum to contain everything to do with spell casting, and just maybe deal with the occasional threat of a powerful dragon. Sure, you may have to deal with the same old social hierarchy, but having access to countless spells would make it far easier to swallow. Besides, you can’t go wrong with Shiny Chariot as a teacher right?
#8: True Cross Academy
“Blue Exorcist” Series (2011-)
If demons have a tendency to possess your loved ones, chances are you’d want to sign up for this school ASAP. With a beautiful interior and various magical doors scattered throughout, it may seem rather heavenly. However, pacifism is the last thing on the agenda as students must learn about exorcism, demonology and improve their combat capabilities in order to work their way up the roster if they want to ascent from a simple Page to a Knight. Just watch out for the sons of Satan who bring a little collateral damage.
#7: Hidden Leaf Ninja Academy
“Naruto” series (2002-)
Want to learn how to hunt from the shadows and deliver a silent death to your enemies? Better look elsewhere. Want to control the elements, make clones of yourself and beat the crap out of your fellow classmates in brutal tournaments? Then this is the education for you! Sure, your graduation may be constantly interrupted by a psychotic snake-man and the odd criminal organisation, but surely the chance to learn how to stab people with electric palms is worth the hassle. Just be prepared for your sensei to be either horrifically embarrassing or rather perverted.
#6: Academy City
“A Certain Magical” series (2008-13)
Why have one school when you can have an entire sovereign state? Made up of twenty-three unique districts all dedicated to some aspect of research and technology, there’s certainly plenty of opportunity for an education. That’s not to say it’s a paradise, as you may find yourself encountering the city’s magical underbelly, consisting of psychopathic espers, legions of killer nuns and young girls who can let loose railgun blasts from her fingertips. You may not have the same kind of misfortune as Touma, but studying in this city is still bound to invite all kind of bad luck your way!
#5: Yokai Academy
“Rosario + Vampire” Series (2008)
Should you happen to be a bloodsucker, witch, succubus or some other form of monster, then this school is bound to make you feel right at home. If you happen to be a human then good luck to you because not only do you have to worry about bad grades but also your own life. It is quite the gamble, but if you are exceptionally lucky and you manage to fend off death then you might end up like Tsukune, who ends up with his own harem by the end of it. Worth it.
#4: Duel Academy
“Yu-Gi-Oh GX” (2004-08)
Guess becoming a professional at a children’s card game must be a viable career since an entire island dedicated to teaching the duellists of tomorrow about monster, magic and trap cards was set up. With plenty of practise duels and lessons in how to throw down, we’re not exactly sure how this would look on a resume, but you can bet that spending a few years summoning holographic creatures and duelling your way to a life of luxury would be pretty sweet. You have to wonder though how much money they threw into this place, not exactly the safest investment you’ve ever made Kaiba.
#3: Death Weapon Meister Academy
“Soul Eater” (2008-09)
Be prepared to study your ass off because this school is not for rookies. Established by Death itself, the DWMA was set to train both meisters and weapons alike so they could learn to work in harmony and be prepared to take on the terrible force that lurk in the outside world, ranging from witches to the near-invulnerable Kishin. It can be unorthodox as all hell and the tests have known to drive a couple of students off the rails, but if you’re determined to turn yourself into the ultimate death dealer then this is the place to enrol.
#2: Kunugigaoka Junior High School
“Assassination Classroom” (2015-16)
Ok, not so much the school – more so a particular class. You might take a look at the dismal state of the classroom that Class E have to put up with and think they’ve got it rough, what with being regarded as misfits unworthy of a proper education. Well, in actuality they have the opportunity of a lifetime. Their teacher happens to be a multi-tentacle’d monster dubbed Koro Sensei, who despite being an amazing educator has promised to destroy the earth unless one of his new students kill him before the term ends. Saving the world and earning ten billion yen in the process? That’s quite the semester.
Before we reveal our number one pick, here are a few honourable mentions.
Infinite Stratos Academy
“IS: Infinite Stratos” (2011-13)
Ouran High School
“Ouran High School Host Club” (2006)
Hachimitsu Private Academy
“Prison School” (2015)
#1: U.A High
“My Hero Academia” (2016-)
What could be more awesome than attending a school made for superheroes? In preparation to take on the League of Villains, those that possess a Quirk are given the opportunity to study and test their metal at this institution ripped straight out of the Silver Age. With an adorable bear-like creature as its principal and the likes of All Might as a teacher, the heroes of tomorrow are given everything they need to hone their skills, master their Quirks, and learn what it really means to go plus ultra! Where do we sign up?
