Top 10 Best Shane Dawson Videos
#10: MAKING A WEIRD MUSIC VIDEO with DREW!
Is there any better way to celebrate making a music video with your friend than to make another, much weirder and more rambling music video with the exact same friend? From Drew outing himself as having never gone to USC (despite wearing a shirt that suggests otherwise), to the hilarious end result, this video is just a lot of fun start to finish. Their collaborative in-video effort, “Just 2 Queens,” is ridiculously short considering how much time we spent leading up to it, but hey, YouTube videos are all about the journey, not the destination, right?
#9: The Truth
In classic Shane fashion, this video begins rather hectically. He’s got something to tell us - it’s going to involve him diving headfirst into his insecurities - but first, we’ve got to meet his admittedly gorgeous new puppy. Talk about a rollercoaster of emotions! While having a serious conversation with his nearest and dearest about his own body image issues, Shane perfectly uses his new furry friend to keep the mood from becoming too heavy. And then things get really heavy, when the fat suit arrives! Shane goes bald, Garrett faces his fear of death and Ryland talks a walk in a fat person’s body. Now this… is quality content.
#8: CONFRONTING MY DAD (Series)
This is the video that ushered in a whole new era of Shane Dawson. From his early years doing sketches and lampooning popular culture, Dawson grew to become a YouTube celebrity, whose vlogs regularly earned him millions of views. In 2017 however, Shane’s desire to confront his father led him to explore a new format, docu-series, which has since gone on to define a new phase of his career. It’s no secret that he and his father had a strained relationship, the latter having been an abusive alcoholic who left the family. Across the three-part series, Shane not only confronts his past and his father, but really seemed to reconnect and bond with his dad.
#7: I’m Done
Let’s all just breathe a collective sigh of relief and appreciate the fact that Shane was not in fact saying he was done as in “quitting”. What this video is actually about... takes awhile to unravel. Shane starts with a sponsorship that doesn’t work out, and then launches into how he had envisioned a series, but that sadly… it did not work out. This is a long and meandering odyssey of a video, but one that is kind of beautiful in its chaos. We particularly like Ryland’s sass when pushing for a wedding ring. Shane attempts a 24 hour challenge in Toys R Us, but it gets seriously derailed. There’s also a feud with JoJo Siwa? Enjoy the ride!
#6: Switching Lives with Trisha Paytas
Shane Dawson has a number of fellow YouTube celebs with whom he frequently collaborates, but few of these group endeavors are ever as fruitful or over-the-top as when he gets together with the larger-than-life Trisha Paytas. This video is the first in a series in which Shane lives a day in the life of other people, and it is every bit as fabulous as you can imagine. He doesn’t just shadow his close friend, he genuinely lives a day as her. Makeup, wardrobe, hitting the dance studio, cruising in the Jeep, binge-eating fast food… Shane tries it all! It is any wonder this video has over 18.5 million views?
#5: 73 Questions with Shane Dawson | Vogue Parody
What’s a celebrity to do when Vogue doesn’t come a-knocking? Just hire somebody and do a “73 Questions” of your very own! Countless mid-level celebs have taken it upon themselves to film a Q&A a la Vogue, but Shane does them one better by first mocking these people and then putting his own creative spin on the concept. Because hey… sometimes can have your cake and eat it too! This is 73 Questions without all the veneer. This is 73 Questions unfiltered. This is the 73 Questions parody you never knew you needed, and it is an absolute blast. And that house tour video was pretty great too.
#4: Mind Blowing Conspiracy Theories (Series)
We all love a good conspiracy theory. We don’t necessarily believe in them, but they sure are fun! Add Shane Dawson to the mix as our presenter and fearless leader however, and you’ve got a recipe for time very well wasted. Things start off strong in this particular video when Shane tackles the overabundance of mattress stores compared to demand. Trust us, things only get wilder from there. Shane has given a number of these videos in recent years, ranging in theme from “Popular 2017 Conspiracy Theories” to “Children Show Conspiracy Theories” and beyond. Be warned… they come with a risk of paranoia and a guarantee of entertainment.
#3: The Truth About Tanacon (Series)
The world of YouTube celebrities is never short on drama, but Tana Mongeau’s 2018 convention, which she pitched as an alternative to Vidcon, is just about the biggest one in recent history. Do you remember the epic fail of the so-called luxury music festival, Fyre Fest? Tanacon is the YouTube equivalent. In this three part docu-series, Shane Dawson dissects the ins and outs of this disaster of an event, taking a deep dive into what it was meant to be and how it went so catastrophically wrong. He even sits down with a tearful Mongeau to discuss. We gotta say Mr. Dawson, we like this new documentary filmmaker side of you.
#2: The Secret World of Jeffree Star (Series)
When you’re taking a look into the life of Jeffree freakin’ Star… there is a lot to discuss - which is probably how this series stretched to 5 parts. “The Secret World of Jeffree Star” was met with critical acclaim from fans and the media alike, and at the time of its release, it was heralded as Shane’s best docu-series to date. From Star’s MySpace beginnings to his cosmetics empire, Jeffree is a fascinating subject, and Dawson really seems to know how to get this star to open up to him and the camera. Like he did with Paytas, Shane also switches lives with Jeffree, which is a treat unto itself.

#1: The Mind of Jake Paul (Series)
As Shane Dawson has progressively made his brand and his YouTube offerings increasingly professional and thought-provoking, Jake Paul has . . . inspired hordes of haters to match his legions of fans. So one of the biggest YouTubers in the world dissecting the life and psyche of another is riveting stuff. Shane starts the series with one simple but jarring question: is Jake Paul a sociopath? It’s a query with serious and far-reaching implications, inviting a similar scrutiny of the entire YouTube celebrity culture. With a bit of true crime edginess to it, and that trademark Shane Dawson touch, “The Mind of Jake Paul” is must-watch content.
