#10: Martin Scorsese
Married: 5 times

This award-winning director has over 50 years of experience in filmmaking, but apparently he’s also had his fair share of experience with the ladies. Married first to Laraine Marie Brennan in 1965, he later wed author Julia Cameron, with their marriage lasting just one year and ending in a bitter divorce in 1977. It didn’t take long for the Sicilian director to move on to a turbulent relationship with actress and model Isabella Rossellini and later film producer Barbara De Fina, with both marriages – again – ending in divorce. He seems to have gotten it right with Helen Schermerhorn Morris, to whom he has been hitched since 1999.

#9: Tony Curtis
Married: 6 times

The acting range of this handsome film and television actor is almost matched by the range of his relationships. Curtis’ first marriage was to blonde bombshell and screen star Janet Leigh, with whom he eloped against his studio’s wishes. Though they were Hollywood’s golden couple for over 10 years, their relationship deteriorated – especially after Curtis’ 17-year-old German costar Christine Kaufmann came into the picture. Leigh signed the divorce papers in 1962, and Curtis and Kaufmann stayed married for five years. After Kaufmann, Curtis walked down the aisle four more times, with his final wedding to Jill Vandenberg Curtis sticking. Jill was 42-years younger than Tony, and they were married from 1998 until his death in 2010.

#8: Billy Bob Thornton
Married: 6 times

Well-known in Hollywood but also as a singer and musician with his band The Boxmasters, this actor from Arkansas is also well known to six different women – seven, if you count his engagement to actress Laura Dern. With four marriages and four divorces under his belt, including stints with actress Cynda Williams and Playboy model Pietra Dawn Cherniak, Thornton famously wed his “Pushing Tin” co-star Angelina Jolie. Having an age difference of 20 years, Thornton and Jolie became tabloid fodder – mainly due to the nature of their relationship, which some might label as peculiar. The eccentric pair separated after two years and divorced after three, leading Billy Bob to tie the knot in 2014 with makeup artist Connie Angland.

#7: Richard Pryor
Married: 7 times

One of the most respected stand-up comics ever, this award-winning comedian didn’t have as much success in the marriage department – or maybe he did, depending on how you see things. From his first wedding in 1960 to his last in 2001, Pryor was married to five different women – two of them twice – and fathered seven children during his long and lively career – and that’s without including his relationships with actresses Margot Kidder and Pam Grier. Apparently, he once said: “I believe in the institution of marriage, and I intend to keep trying till I get it right.” Pryor seemed to accomplish that goal with wife Jennifer Lee, to whom he was married from 1981-82, and 2001 until his 2005 death.

#6: Jerry Lee Lewis
Married: 7 times

He wrote, he sang, he played piano, and he was known as The Killer – though a more accurate name may’ve been The Ladykiller. Called “rock-and-roll’s first great wild man,” Lewis’ crazy nature transcended his musical performances and affected his personal life. The musical genius wed a total of seven times over the course of 60 years, with his longest marriage lasting 21 years and his shortest 77 days. Infamously, one of his wives was his 13-year-old first cousin once removed, whom he married at age 22; two of his wives died at tragically young ages and two of his weddings occurred before his divorces were finalized. Hopefully #7 is lucky for him.

#5: Lana Turner
Married: 8 times

The first woman to appear on our list so far, the gorgeous Lana Turner, known for her roles in “Imitation of Life” and “The Postman Always Rings Twice,” certainly holds her own in the marriage department. She started things off with Artie Shaw, a successful composer, musician and bandleader; their allegedly abusive marriage began on their first date and lasted a mere four months. Her subsequent marriages, to actor and restaurant owner Joseph Stephen Crane, millionaire playboy Henry J. Topping Jr., actor Lex Barker, rancher Fred May, producer Robert Eaton, and hypnotist Ronald Pellar, all lasted but a few years each. Marred by scandal, abuse, murder and famous boyfriends, Turner’s personal life was even more dramatic than her onscreen ones.

#4: Larry King
Married: 8 times

This gravelly-voiced television fixture had humble beginnings as a journalist, but Larry King soon built an award-winning career as a radio broadcaster and television host. King’s success in the marriage department is also notable, though for different reasons. It all began with his wedding at age 18 to high-school sweetheart Freda Miller, which ended a year later. Many others were destined to be King’s future ex-wives, including a Playboy Bunny, a math teacher and a businesswoman. But his last union was to Shawn Southwick, a TV host, singer, and actress. During their marriage, she quipped that she was “the only [wife] to have lasted into the two digits,” though they filed for divorced in 2010.

#3: Mickey Rooney
Married: 8 times

Though a prolific actor, starring in some 300 films from the 1920s until his death in 2014, Rooney’s alcoholism, pill addiction, gambling, and messy relationships led Vanity Fair to call him “the original Hollywood train wreck.” He first married Hollywood star Ava Gardner, though the marriage lasted little more than a year due to his infidelity. A line of marriages to actresses and singers followed, leading him to the beautiful Barbara Ann Thomason, who was tragically shot in an apparent murder-suicide in 1966. Short marriages, financial issues, and separations haunted the remaining years of Rooney’s life, though his union with eighth wife Jan Chamberlin lasted longer than the preceding seven put together.

#2: Elizabeth Taylor
Married: 8 times

Her Academy Award-winning performances, humanitarian work, and business ventures made Liz Taylor one of the most famous female screen legends ever. However, her tumultuous eight marriages to seven different men land her solidly on this list – and left her with quite the jewelry collection. Beginning in 1950, Taylor married a hotel heir, an actor, a film producer, a popular entertainer, another actor (twice), a politician and a construction worker. Of course, her most public relationship was with Welsh film star Richard Burton; a relationship dubbed “the marriage of the century,” and surrounded by glitz and glamour, luxury and paparazzi, strife and rumors. The famous couple divorced, remarried, then divorced again, with Taylor maintaining that Burton was the love of her life.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
- Rita Hayworth
Married: 5 times

- Dennis Hopper
Married: 5 times

#1: Zsa Zsa Gabor
Married: 9 times

Whatever happened to “third time’s the charm”? This Hungarian beauty queen and actress became known in the United States as a well-known actress, socialite and frequent wife. Starting with a young Turkish intellectual in 1937, Zsa Zsa went on to marry (and divorce) a dizzying assortment of men: the founder of the Hilton hotel chain, an actor, a Wall Street investment banker, a Texas oil man, a Mattel designer who helped conceive of the Barbie doll, an attorney and another actor. She finally stopped at her ninth marriage to Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, whom she wed in 1986. Zsa Zsa is quoted to have once said: “Men have always liked me and I have always liked men.” Ain’t that the truth!
