#10: Farting Wars
“Ultimate Muscle” (2002-04)
Every family has their own unique way of bonding, so who are we to judge? Kid Muscle is the son of the legendary hero and the current King of Planet Kinniku, King Muscle. Unfortunately, the apple fell pretty far from the tree, as Kid is clumsy, lazy, and really not all that into wrestling. With a new threat looming on the horizon, King Muscle decides to whip his boy into shape and prepare him to eventually take his throne. It is father vs son, man vs man, and – more importantly – fart vs fart.
#9: Puking Scene
“Haganai: I don't have many friends” (2011-13)
Making friends does not come easily to everyone, which serves as the basic premise for this school based harem. Tired of spending their days alone, Kodaka and Yozora launch the neighbors club - offering a safe space for students to get to know each other. One day, they decide to go on a team building exercise to an amusement park. What could possibly go wrong? In a test of courage, the highly competitive Sena and Yozora decide to see who can ride the most death defying attractions. As usual, there is only one loser.
#8: Anna’s Cookies
“Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn'tExist” (2015)
For anyone that might be eating a cookie right now – for your own sanity, look away! Set in an alternative version of Japan, strict decency laws have been passed to suppress any elements of impurity or sexual deviance. In the name of free speech, a group of students rebel against the government by broadcasting obscene propaganda. Arguably the anime's breakout star, Anna is the student council president who publicly reinforces these laws while hiding her sadistic sexual preferences. After becoming infatuated with Tanukichi, she decides to try out that old sage advice that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.
#7: The Wedding
“Oreimo” (2010-13)
They are siblings. Enough said. Okay – maybe a bit more is needed. After spending two seasons introducing a few genuinely great girls who would be perfect for Kyousuke, he still ends up rejecting them all for a doomed relationship with his sister. No matter how cute and idealistic their scenes try to be, the fact they are blood-relatives immediately subverts the romantic tone pushed in these moments. Their fake wedding is just a culmination of everything that came before.
#6: The Quiz Show
“Osomatsu-san” (2015-)
Set ten years after the events of the original series, the Matsuno siblings might physically look like responsible adults but their minds’ are firmly in the gutter. Loving nothing more than to cause mayhem for everyone around them, Osomatsu-san focuses heavily on adult humor which reflects the age of the characters. In only the third episode, audiences were treated to an impromptu game show with the sextuplets’ tidbits as the topic of interest. Depending on who is watching, it is either disgustingly funny or just disgusting.
#5: Shinpachi’s first kiss
“Gintama” (2006-)
Speaking of disgustingly funny – Odd Jobs are recruited by the local weather girl, and Gintoki’s crush, to try and stop an occultist family from resurrecting an evil demon. Following a few missteps, our heroes end upin a tag-team mystic death match against the Shirino clan – with the first match consisting of eating a creature known as a Pandemonium. Disgusted out of his mind, Shinpachi accidentally kisses his meal and instantly falls madly in love. With the faith of the world on the line, the wannabe samurai has to find the strength within to eat his first love.
#4: Family Dinner
“Umineko: When They Cry” (2009)
Sure – the fancy clothes might seem high class, but in terms of gruesome scenes, Umineko easily lives up to its more popular sister anime. Every year, the Ushiromiya family holds a conference to discuss important family issues – like how to split the inheritance of the dying head of the family. Due to a typhoon, they are locked in the mansion where strange things start to happen, with some believing that the Golden Witch is behind them. Fond of mind-games, Beatrice traps Rosa in purgatory and cooks her a special dinner using only family grown ingredients.
#3: Transformation
“You're Being Summoned, Azazel” (2010-14)
Considering the title character’s special ability is to incite lust in others, this – for a lack of a better word – comedy scene should really come as no surprise. Azazel is a perverted demon who enjoys sexually harassing others, with a weird fixation on the poor Sakuma. Trying to impress her boss, the demon detective Akutabe; Sakuma tries summoning a demon all on her own. Proving successful, the summoned Molach gets upset when the assistant offers beef curry as a tribute. As a punishment, Sakuma is slowly turned into a cow while Azazel sings a nursery rhyme.
#2: Tetsuo’s Transformation
“Akira” (1988)
One of the most important anime of all time, Katsuhiro Otomo’s sci-fiepic is filled with memorable and influential sequences. Blood and gore are a huge part of Akira, as the film does not pull its punches during its more violent scenes. This all comes to a head in the explosive finale, which sees the hot-headed Kaneda face off against his best friend Tetsuo, who is slowly overwhelmed by his psychic powers. Unable to control himself, the teenager transformers into a massive blob, absorbing everything in the stadium.
#1: Kakyoin's Revenge on Mannish Boy

More importantly, everything is instantly forgotten when someone wakes up. And yes – he does end up eating it.
