It was a real-life “The Revenant” situation for this Florida man on a seemingly quiet night in January 2022. Only this time, the man came out victorious. Walter Hickox, of Daytona Beach, was standing on his front porch with his pet dogs when a black bear burst through the doorway, apparently targeting one of the puppies. Without even thinking, Hickox lunges at the bear and fights it off, before shoving a bench in front of the door to prevent it from returning. The terrifying incident unfolds in mere seconds, but the dog dad is able to protect his pups and restore calm. Hickox may have sustained minor injuries during the attack, but you should see the bear.

This doorbell footage was recorded on April 19th 2017 at a residence in Maxwell Park in Oakland, California. Things appear to start off pretty ordinary: two men walk up to the front porch as if intending to ring the doorbell. However, one of them suddenly pulls on his hoodie, then vigorously attempts to kick down the door multiple times. It’s a particularly brazen effort, seeing as it’s in broad daylight and you can clearly hear activity in the neighborhood. The would-be robbers likely assumed there was no one home, but were shocked when someone reportedly yelled from inside the house. This prompted them to scurry away like cockroaches when you turn the lights on.

When you’re delivering packages during a global pandemic, it should go without saying that extra precautions need to be taken. One Amazon delivery man learned this the hard way when he was caught on camera spitting in his hand and smearing it on a box right on the customer’s front porch. This incident occurred in late March 2020, at a time when most cities around the world were beginning to implement lockdowns. Even under normal circumstances, this would be repulsive, but during the coronavirus pandemic, it was possibly criminal. While it does appear that the man may have been innocently trying to wipe something off, given the circumstances, his actions are simply inexcusable.

On May 5th 2019, a man named Jerel Heywood was visiting his friend’s home in Lawton, Oklahoma when he got a surprise attack. Not from a would-be thief or a black bear, but from a 5-foot-5-inch snake lurking around one of the porch lights. Heywood had just opened the screen door when the snake lunged out of a corner and bit him in the face, before quickly retreating. Frightened and in pain, he rushed into the house, urgently requesting to be taken to the hospital. Fortunately, the snake turned out to be non-venomous, sparing Heywood from any serious threats. He was, however, placed on antibiotics to prevent any potential infections.

This video goes beyond creepy, it’s downright terrifying. Captured by a ring camera at a Las Vegas home, it shows a strange man knocking on the door and asking the woman inside some bizarre questions. The woman, who was reportedly home alone at the time, doesn’t respond, perhaps explaining why he keeps repeating himself. Just as he walks away, the woman’s husband joins in remotely and asks who he is. The creep returns and shockingly expresses that he wants to harm the “girl in the house,” even mentioning that he has weapons. After the video went viral, the man, identified as Christopher Sumbs, was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking, coercion and obstructing a public officer.

Late on September 29th 2019, a woman was recorded running up to the front porch of a home in Arcadia, California, screaming in terror. Then, a man emerges from behind, grabs her by the hair and drags her across the lawn. The woman puts up a desperate resistance until the man menacingly threatens to kill her. It’s horrifying to watch, as the helpless lady is dragged away to an uncertain fate. The homeowners shared the footage with police, which was instrumental in finding the woman, reportedly being held captive nearby. The man in the clip, Robert Mendez, who happens to be the woman’s estranged boyfriend, was arrested soon after and charged with suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping, and false imprisonment.

Christmas, it seems, came strangely early for the residents of this neighborhood in Henrico County, Virginia. In August 2019, doorbell cameras recorded a mysterious man in a TV-set mask dropping off more than 50 old televisions on random porches in the area. While it might appear like a charitable act, the man’s unconventional costume and unusual timing are certainly enough to give anyone the creeps. Oddly, he even acknowledges the surveillance by waving at some of the cameras. After weeks of investigation, police believed they had identified the suspect and could potentially charge him with dumping trash, trespassing, and felony wearing a mask in public. However, the outcome regarding his arrest remains unclear.

Retired police officer Christina Paul found herself in a terrifying situation when she encountered an intruder attempting to break into her Fresno, California residence. Paul was home alone that night when a strange woman walked up to the front door and tried to get inside the house. The doorbell cam captured the lady yelling to be let in, before banging on the window and ripping out the screen. When police arrive on the scene, they question the woman, later identified as Hannah Nakagawa. Nakagawa admits that she doesn’t live there but was trying to reach a friend inside. She was arrested for misdemeanor vandalism, although police also considered charges of attempted burglary and being under the influence.

The incident captured in this footage occurred before the COVID-19 pandemic, but that doesn’t make it any less troubling. In January of 2019, homeowner Sylvia Dungan received a security alert around 5am regarding some possible motion on her front porch. Although Dungan wasn’t home, her children were asleep inside. Upon reviewing the footage, it revealed a man licking her doorbell for an astonishing three hours! Later, the same individual was captured relieving himself in her front yard. Dungan shared the clip with police, who quickly identified the suspect as Roberto Daniel Arroyo. Arroyo faced potential charges of petty theft and prowling, but frankly, he should also be held accountable for the disturbing image he left in our heads.

On the night of November 12th 2019, terrifying screams pierced across a neighborhood in Leimert Park, Los Angeles. The pleas for help appeared to come from a woman and were captured on doorbell cam footage from one of the houses. In the video, a male voice can also be heard saying “I’m sorry”. Mere seconds after a concerned resident steps out to investigate, a white car, believed to be carrying the unidentified man and woman, zooms down the street. While it is unknown who the voices belonged to, police suspect that it was a possible kidnap situation. Even though multiple people witnessed the incident, it appears the woman’s identity and whereabouts remain a mystery.
