Top 10 Video Game Characters That Would Make Great Action Figures
If you make ‘em, we’ll buy ‘em. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today, we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Video Game Characters That Would Make Great Action Figures!
For this list, we’re looking at characters that we think would make awesome action figures. Keep in mind that we’re only considering characters that haven’t already been made into action figures. We’re also not counting toys-to-life products nor statues and figurines, as these are not typically posable like action figures.
“Grand Theft Auto V” (2013)
We’re starting the list off with what seems like an odd choice, but hear us out. As much as we’d like Niko Bellic or Tommy Vercetti on our shelves, our top preferences would be the trio from “Grand Theft Auto V” Knowing each of their different personalities, we could spend hours posing them around the house in hilarious situations. Package each character with a couple of weapons or vehicles and we could replicate a “GTA Online” experience. They could just also be cool to look at and kept in their packaging. Well, that’s assuming the craftsmanship is top-notch. Making a detailed face for an action figure isn’t exactly easy…
“Dark Souls” (2011)
Praise the sun, we’re getting a Solaire amiibo! While that’s all fine and dandy, how has FromSoftware not struck a deal with a toy manufacturer? One character we know for a fact that would sell fast would be an action figure of Solaire of Astora. A posable figure of our sun-praising friend would be the perfect touch to any gamer’s bedroom or game room. Sure, you can settle for the Amiibo, but a fully-poseable action figure would be even better!
“Worms” series (1995-)
The Worms don’t have much in terms of a diverse cast, but if they were to get their own line of action figures, it would focus more on playsets and accessories. Imagine getting a playset modeled after one of the Forts from the more recent Worms titles. Then, you could set up your own team of Worms around the set. For the various weapons, you could buy blind packs. (We’re certain the rarest would be the Holy Hand Grenade.) See? Just from spitballing, we found a potentially solid marketing plan for Worms action figures! If only we knew more about production costs…
“F-Zero” series (1991-2004)
Psst! Nintendo! Want to run a quick marketing test that could potentially bring back the “F-Zero” franchise? Shell out limited edition Captain Falcon action figures! Just look at the guy! The Captain is practically a living action figure, especially with all of his moves in “Smash Bros”. You could put a button on him that makes him say, “Show me ya moves!” Of course, this wouldn’t feel complete without the Blue Falcon by his side. You could make an RC car for us to put him in or just include the figure with a miniature die cast model. This needs to happen now.
“The Witcher” series (2007-15)
You can get a handful of different statues based on some of the characters in “The Witcher”. We can appreciate the craftsmanship of each one, but we’re wanting some action figures here. If CD Projekt were to make this happen, hopefully, they’d make action figures of other characters than just a few versions of Geralt. One character we have in mind is Geralt’s adopted daughter, Ciri. She’s just as kickass as Geralt, and her design is pretty unique. Whether we have her kept in the box or posing on our shelves, she would be an action figure every gamer would want.
“A Hat in Time” (2017)
You know what makes a really awesome action figure? Having multiple accessories! While you could easily apply that to any other entry on this list, Hat Kid would most likely have the best accessories. After all, her name is HAT Kid! Each toy could be packaged with all of her hats along with her trusty umbrella, or maybe make action figures of different characters and package each one with a hat. Oh, and the best part? On the back, there could be a “Smooch” button! Press it and she gives a smooch!
“God of War” (2018)
Sure, Kratos is the star of the show, but it was his son, Atreus, that took gamers by surprise with how immediately he became an essential part of the God of War mythology. An action figure of Atreus and his trusty Talon Bow would make for a great compliment to the epic NECA Kratos figure that came out in honor of the new game. Sure, he’s not as visually striking as his hulking father, but what he lacks in stature, he more than makes up for with his unique and charismatic personality.
“Shovel Knight” (2014)
You can purchase a Shovel Knight plush doll, and even a Shovel Knight amiibo. So, how is it that there are no action figures of our beloved cerulean knight? Shovel Knight is ripe for a toy line! He’s quickly become one of the most recognizable characters in modern video games. Plus, he’s got an assortment of relics at his disposal that each toy could come with. Of course, just the knight and his Shovel Blade would suffice. Maybe throw in a stand, too, so we can pose him in his dive attack!
“Far Cry 3” (2012)
Even to this day, Vaas Montenegro remains the best villain in the “Far Cry” series. While an action figure of him is very unlikely, it would still be a neat piece of gaming memorabilia to have. Just to make our purchase worthwhile, you could include a weapon for him to wield and a prop he can sit or stand on. However, we’d probably be posing him in a way that reminds us of his speech. Speaking of which, do you think they could include a button that lets him remind us the definition of insanity?
“Arms” (2017)
“Arms” has built a colorful cast of characters, and a lineup of action figures would be perfect for fans AND kids. Could you imagine holding Spring Man or Ribbon Girl and pressing a button to launch their fists at each other? Well, in hindsight, we could imagine the kids getting a little reckless with these. So, plaster that packaging in warning labels. For those who would prefer keeping their figures in mint condition, we’re sure these would look good on your wall alongside your other figures. In other words, “Arms” action figures have a lot of potential. Let’s make it happen, Nintendo!
