They're not bad, they're just pixelated that way. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Video Games Where You Play The Bad Guy.

For this list, we'll be looking at games where being bad never felt so good. Video games that feature protagonists who don't know they're the badguy until the very end are featured in our list Top 10 Video Games Where You're Unknowingly The Villain. We'll also only be looking at games where you don't get to decide between good or evil, nor are we looking at series where there are more playable good guys than bad.

#10: “Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3” (1994)

Top 10 Wario Games

You’ve gotta respect a villain who rocks a pointed mustache. Serving as theexact opposite of Mario, Wario first appeared as the main antagonist of “Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (2:26).” After that, he got to star in his own adventure with “Wario Land. (0:13)” Unlike that Bowser chump, he wasn’t out to capture some princess, he was out to surpass Mario by getting a castle that was bigger than his. This sent him on an adventure where he’d steal coins by shoulder-checking enemies (1:03) in order to pay a genie (2:31:46) who could, if paid enough, give him his own castle … or planet (2:32:23). Ha! Take that, Mario! It’s Wario time!

#9: “Postal” (1997)

Let’s be honest, we’ve all had days where we’ve wanted to put someone on a damn list (3:43). Enter “The Postal Dude.” While “Postal 2” has an inkling of a plot where he tries to complete mundane tasks (4:45), you can actually choose to not kill anyone. The first game, however, is a different story, since you can only advance to the next level after killing a certain number of people (0:31). Needless to say, people criticized the game, particularly the United State Postal Service, who sued the developer for using the term “postal” in a game whose primary objective was to kill everyone (1:04).

#8: “Hitman” series (2000-)

Everytime he thinks he’s out, they pull him back in... though it really doesn’t take much persuasion to get a gun in Agent 47’s hands (0:20). We suppose that’s what happens whenyou’re created from the genetic material of a triad leader, a drug lord, a terrorist, and a weapon’s smuggler (8:03). Agent 47 isthe perfect killing machine, a role he’s destined to fulfill even if he tries to live a life of peace (7:54). Like any good hitman, he doesn’t ask questions, and he’ll do anything it takes to complete a mission -- even take out targets -- and anyone in the area -- at his own funeral (4:28).

#7: “Manhunt” series (2003-07)

Manhunt: Retrospective | MojoPlays

You can’t spell morally questionable characters and video game controversy without Rockstar Games (6:59). That being said, let’s talk about “Manhunt,” a series that centers around escaped prison inmates and thepeople they brutally murder, and the flashier the kill, the better scoreyou get (2:18). You could argue that the first game’s protagonist was simply following orders so he could escape prison and be with his family again, but he certainly had no qualms about suffocating people with a plastic bag (1:27). The debauchery continues in the game’s sequel and offers players more cringeworthy ways to kill everyone on screen (1:26).

#6: “Destroy All Humans!” series (2005-08)

Don’t you just love when a video game title tells you the objective of thegame? We suppose, technically, it’s a touch bit misleading, since Crypto isn’t destroying, he’s harvesting (4:07). And unlike some aliens who attack our planet, Crypto has legitimate reasons for wanting our extinction: he needs to harvest our brain stems in order to prevent his species from going extinct. See? He’s trying to save his species! Noble, right (7:00)? All right, it sounds bad, but it could be a lot worse. Crypto could be running our American government (1:32), or could be starting a fast food restaurant and serving humans as meat (1:32)... oh wait...

#5: “Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2” (1997-99)

Also in:

The Most Difficult Dungeon In Video Game History

Before we all suffered the evils of the mobile game in 2013 (0:05), the“Dungeon Keeper” franchise was an enjoyably evil romp (1:26). Sporting thecatchphrase, “evil is good,” the games let you take on the role of a dungeon keeper in charge of their very own dungeon (0:25). Before you can enjoy your devilish new home, you have to deal with the pesky do-gooders who feel the need to invade it (0:10), and other dungeon keepers who are out to steal your treasure. Sadly, we never got a third instalment, which promised to let us go to the surface to try and take over the world.

#4: “Grand Theft Auto V” (2014)

Also in:

The 10 Weirdest Unlockables In Grand Theft Auto Games

In a franchise where grand theft auto is the least of offenses, we’re always playing as characters who do terrible deeds (4:15). However, “GTA V” has three protagonists: Michael Townley, who tries -- and fails -- to live in peace. Franklin Clinton, a gangbanger who becomes friends with Michael (6:15). And Trevor Philips who, let’s be honest, steals theshow (8:37). To his credit, Trevor is fiercely loyal to those he cares about... but he’s so unstable that being on his good side can be just asnerve wracking as being on his bad side (15:31). No wonder why his old heist buddy faked his own death.

#3: “Star Wars: TIE Fighter” (1994)

Top 20 Best Star Wars Video Games

It’s always great to play for the victorious side, unless if that side is made up of the biggest villains of the galaxy (0:32). Oh who are we kidding, who hasn’t been curious about the Dark Side? Especially between “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi. (6:13)” In this game, you play an unnamed Imperial starfighter -- though technically, the Prima strategy guide revealed the badass name, “Maarek Stele.” As Stele, you face off against the likes of the Rebel Alliance and even traitorous Imperial forces (4:00). We don’t want to spoil the ending, but let’s just say if you win the day, Emperor Palpatine will be pleased (1:32).

#2: “StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm” (2013)

Also in:

History of STARCRAFT: The Real Time Strategy Game That Changed The World

You know how we said that being bad never felt so good (1:57:11)? Meet the Queen of Blades herself, Sarah Kerrigan. If you know your Starcraft lore, you know that Sarah Kerrigan was assimilated into the Zerg Swarm in Starcraft 1, and then saved from it by Jim Raynor at the end of SC2:Wings of Liberty. Happy ending? Not so much, because when she’s convinced that Jim’s been killed in Heart of the Swarm, she falls off the wagon real hard and goes full zerg all over again – this time for double revenge.

Sure, her crusade against the villainous Arkturis Mengsk is technically noble, but you can’t have a good crusade without killing a few thousand innocents in the process, am I right?

It would be bad of us to ignore them, so let’s check out these honorable mentions:
“Aliens vs. Predator” series (1994-2010)
“Rampage” series (1986-2006)
“Overlord” series (2007-09)
“Plague Inc.” series (2012-14)
“The Darkness” series (2007-12)
“Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse” (2005)

#1: “God of War” series (2005-13)

Top 10 Video Game Series With No Bad Games

We’re not saying that Kratos’ fury isn’t justified... sort of. Honestly, after Ares’ defeat... he could’ve stopped. In fact, he should’ve stopped (6:10). Athena tried to warn him (0:42), but his stubbornness led to Zeus stepping in and, well... now he’s #1 on this list (26:37). Kratos may have a reason behind his anger -- he got tricked by Ares into killing his own family -- but he’s so blinded by rage that it’s easy to forget his inner turmoil, especially since he has a tendency to kill absolutely everything and not just the ones who wronged him (13:18). He’s definitely earned that “God of War” title (0:00).
