For this list, we’re looking at video games that contain a high amount of curse words or vulgar audio content. Obviously, we’re gonna be cursing up a storm for the next several minutes uncensored, so viewer discretion is advised.

There’s a reason why this late-gen N64 platformer from Rare is so widely remembered: It features cute and cuddly animal characters and assorted inanimate objects with potty mouths. Originally created as a game for all audiences called Twelve Tales: Conker 64, Rare realized how similar it was to the rest of their output and decided on a complete tonal overhaul resulting in the vulgar masterpiece we know and love. Main character Conker is consistently crass and rude, as is the world he inhabits, including a boss made of actual fecal matter who sings. Despite being shunned by Nintendo at the time of release because of its content, (hence why f-bombs are still beeped out), its still beloved to this day because of the risks it took.

It’s South Park. Of course its gonna have a high language quotient. But the real strength of The Stick of Truth is how perfectly it emulates its source material, especially when it comes to its expletive-laden dialogue. As expected, almost every line that comes out of Cartman’s mouth has some kind of swear or dirty word in it, but it’s also priceless that NPC’s and enemies react to being hit with a curse word or two. If only every RPG could be this loose and fun. The use of language even hilariously extends to items and costumes, with choice titles like “Stupid Spoiled Whore Clothes” and the“ Bow of Sucking”.

You would need a pretty broad vocabulary to even begin to describe how bad this FPS is. In his mission behind North Korean lines, main character Richard Marcinko played by Academy Award nominee Mickey Rourkespews out so much unnecessary filth from his mouth that we’re surprised that the game doesn’t include a bar of soap to wash it out with. Whether he’s finding new words to attach an F-bomb to, or just cussing up a storm every time he stabs or shoots someone, Marcinko’s language is the only redeeming part of this otherwise abysmal experience.

Epic Games set out to make the most over the top FPS possible when they released this game in 2011, and boy did they succeed. The dialogue that comes from the mouths of Grayson Hunt and his team compliment the insane gunplay and combos and make for one hell of a memorable experience. Bulletstorm is simultaneously juvenile and masterful with itsswearing, packaging every cluster F-bomb strike with lines about shooting off each others dicks. With most shooters these days taking themselves too seriously, this game was a much needed breath of fresh air thanks to its colorful gameplay and equally colorful dialogue.

Before Grand Theft Auto brought its open world mastery to the 360 and PS3 generation, we received this gang based sandbox game from THQ as an appetizer. While future installments would ramp up the ridiculousness in both gameplay and dialogue, the first game in the series still provided a realistically profane journey through the turf wars of Stillwater, without going completely over the top. Being based around gang wars, you know there’s gonna be some pretty foul language, and the exploits of the 3rd Street Saints gang supply it in droves.

Imagine, a coked out drug lord having a problem with swearing. Who would’ve ever thought? In this virtual continuation of the 1983 crime masterpiece, players take control of the titular gangster, including his vicious and brutal way with words. Seeing as the movie is one of the dirtiest of all time, it’s only fitting that the game continues that legacy with Tony Montana spewing every vulgar thing that comes from his mind in his continued rise to power in Miami. Predictably, the game rose to the top of many “Dirtiest Games of All Time” Lists, and still holds some clout with its coarse and crass wordplay.

Now here’s a series thats no stranger to controversy. For its final and most notorious main installment in the PS2 era, Rockstar’s flagship series went all out, providing a profanity ridden script for the ages. When your game takes inspiration from real life firestorms like the crack epidemic, the Rodney King riots, and the war between the Bloods and Crips, you know that nobody who plays this game is gonna walk away with their innocence intact. Bonus points for having one of cinemas most beloved potty mouths, Samuel L. Jackson as bad guy Frank Tenpenny. Despite the outrage that San Andreas’ content sparked, the GTA series is still going strong and dirty to this day.

This 1999 PC exclusive was launched shortly after the Columbine Massacre, leading to an outcry over its violent and profane content, and as such it has being largely forgotten and overshadowed over the years. But this dark and dismal FPS, the only 90’s release on the list, pushed the boundaries of vulgar language use when games where still, well, not really doing that yet. Being a crime saga heavily influenced by similarly dirty films like Pulp Fiction, the game plays fast and frequent with its language use, casually dropping F-bombs like it was going out of style.

G who? For our money, the notoriety of this Wii rail shooter lies squarely on the shoulders of Detective Isaac Washington. This hard-boiled cop who doesn’t play by the rules never passes up the opportunity to slip a “bitch”, “shit”, or “fuck” into his sentences, adding up to one of the most enjoyable and expletive-laden experiences to be found on any console. It also doesn’t hurt that Overkill is an expertly executed love-letter to grimy, low budget grindhouse and exploitation films of the 1970’s, who's scripts were often as dirty as their film quality.

Big surprise that a game about organized crime takes the top spot. 2K’s crime saga holds a distinction that was originally held by our #2 entry, in that it was awarded the Guinness World Record for Most Profanity in a Video Game, including 397 instances of the word “Fuck”. The journey of Vito Scaletta through a Post World War II Mob provides an unchallenged profane experience, with almost every character you meet up with having something unfiltered to say at one point or another. Hey, they have to get their points across somehow.
