Sophie Turner may have only been a recognizable face since “Game of Thrones” first aired in 2011, but she’d already been acting for over a decade before her appearance on the show. While it wasn’t necessarily professional stage work, she was part of the Playbox Theatre Company since the was only three years old. The Playbox is a troupe from Warwickshire in England, where Sophie lived, and is comprised of mostly actors under the age of 25. Sophie was offered the role of Sansa when she was just thirteen, after auditioning for the show on the recommendation of her drama teacher.

#4: Turner Adopted a Dog From GOT

In the very first episode of “Game of Thrones”, each of the Stark children is given a direwolf puppy from a pack found near Winterfell. If you’ve seen the first season of the show, then you know Sansa’s direwolf, who she names Lady, doesn’t make it very far in the series. She’s sadly executed after only two episodes. Sophie couldn’t bear to see the dog go however, so she decided to adopt the Northern Inuit named Zunni from the set. How sweet is that?

While her character Sansa may be known for her signature copper locks, Sophie Turner was actually born a blonde. In the 2016, Turner debuted some new icy blonde tresses, prompting fans to worry that one of their favorite Westeros women wouldn’t be returning for another season. Turner was quick to reassure them that she dyed her hair for another role in a film called “Huntsville,” not because she was off the series. For the show’s seventh season, Turner finally opted to wear a wig like her co-star Emilia Clarke so she wouldn’t have to keep dyeing her hair back and forth for different roles.

An allergy to horses wouldn’t be a problem for most actresses, but on “Game of Thrones”, these noble steeds are on set for nearly every episode. While her character doesn’t ride all that often, Sophie Turner still has to be around horses regularly on the job. She says that she suffers from asthma and that her condition is exacerbated when she’s near horses, forcing her to keep her inhaler close on set in case she has a negative reaction.

Sophie Turner revealed in a 2017 interview that she’d never heard about oral sex before reading her first GOT script. While the actress didn’t have any sex scenes until a controversial rape scene in the fifth season, she was undoubtedly exposed to more simulated sex than the average teen. After learning about oral sex during a readthrough, Turner said, “'Wow! People do that? That's fascinating.”
