They are best viewed by cruise ship, or even after a hike to the top. The Geirangerfjord is one of the most visited spots in the country, and features great lookout sites. Meanwhile the Sognefjord is the country's largest fjord, and is nearby to some of Norway's remaining stave churches. The Lysefjord is a beautiful light-colored fjord, and is overlooked by the massive Pulpit Rock. In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com learns more about the fjords of Norway.

Learn About Norway's Fjords

This country is world famous for its spectacular fjords. Learn more about the fjords of Norway.

The Fjords of Norway

Norway is famous the world over for its breathtaking scenery, and no natural element is more prevalent in this Scandinavian country than the fjord. Originally formed in a valley by melting glaciers, fjords are comprised of long and narrow bodies of water. Often these are found along rocky, mountain coastlines. Many of Norway’s fjords are found in the Western section of the country.

The Geirangerfjord

The Geirangerfjord is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites, and is a beautiful example of Norway’s fjord landscape. It is one of the most visited spots in the country, and can even be viewed on a breathtaking cruise. The power of nature is ever-present in this location, and visitors can take in the vast expanses of the area by hiking to a number of lookout spots.

The Sognefjord

Found in the south of the country, the Sognefjord is Norway’s largest fjord, and one of the largest in the world. The dramatic scenery can also be enjoyed by boat, and these trips are most exciting during winter months. Other popular activities include hiking the countryside, and even riding through on a motorcycle. Take in the grandeur and historical significance of the area, and you may even see animal wildlife roaming the landscape. Nearby, famous stave churches have survived and dot the landscape. For example, the Urnes church is Norway’s oldest stave church and is another UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Lysefjord

The Lysefjord is another beautiful fjord in southwestern Norway, and its name translates to light fjord for its light-colored stone. Originally created during the Ice Age, this is another fjord that is best viewed by cruise ship. This fjord features particularly high mountains in addition to its narrow river. The Pulpit Rock is a popular tourist attraction in this area, and it overlooks the Lysefjord. This massive rock cliff attracts countless tourists each year, and offers unparalleled views.
