Top 10 Times Snoop Dogg Was Awesome
VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton WRITTEN BY: Daniel Girolamo
Snoop Dogg's best and funniest appearances and interviews!

#10: Olympic Commentary with Kevin Hart

As a rapper, Snoop is always quick to deliver a witty line, which is why NBC paired him with Kevin Hart to provide commentary on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The duo gave their comedic reactions to the highs and lows of the games. The most memorable moment came during the cold call segment, where the two entertainers were surprised with a clip and had to give their first reaction. When forced to call an equestrian highlight, Snoop hilariously compared the side-pass to a crip walk, which left Hart in tears. Hopefully, Snoop sticks to his word and gets a horse in his next music video.

#9: Freestyling with Jamie Foxx

Put Snoop Dogg and Jamie Foxx in a room together, and magic is bound to follow. The two legendary artists have been nominated for a combined 26 Grammys. In 2018, Snoop went on “Sway in the Morning” to promote his latest album, Bible of Love. During the interview, Foxx stepped into the studio to join in on the fun as the two reminisced about their 20-year friendship. Showing just how talented they are, the duo created an impromptu freestyle live on the air. With Snoop’s signature flow and Foxx’s backing vocals, the song was an instant hit. Now, all we need is a joint album from these two icons.

#8: Plizzanet Earth

It’s fitting that Snoop “Dogg” would commentate on all things concerning the animal kingdom. On “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Snoop has the honor of hosting a segment called “Plizzanet Earth” where he provides commentary for nature programs. Over the years, Snoop has narrated a battle between an iguana and snake, accused a cold-blooded seal of twerking, and screamed for a great white shark. During a clip where a snow leopard hunted down prey, Snoop hilariously accused the staff of making the animal up! BBC, give Snoop Dogg his own nature show.

#7: Reenacting Ghost with Martha Stewart

To say that Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart are an unlikely TV pairing would be an understatement. Who would’ve thought a rapper and a home decor mogul would turn out to be such great friends? Snoop has credited Martha for helping rappers get seen on daytime television after visiting her show for the first time in 2008. The friendship continued to blossom over the years, culminating in 2016 with the television program, “Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party.” The variety show provided hilarious, odd couple moments, but none more memorable than the recreation of the pottery scene from the movie, “Ghost.” Good luck trying to keep a straight face.

#6: Roasting Flavor Flav

If Snoop decided to stop rapping, he could have a career in stand-up. Snoop is a smart, clever wordsmith, which translates seamlessly into the comedy world. Plus, the rapper is not afraid to cross lines for a laugh, as evidenced during his appearances on “Comedy Central’s Roast” series. In particular, his insults during the roast of Flavor Flav were top-notch. Snoop accused Katt Williams of shopping for pimp clothes at Baby Gap and compared Carrot Top to the Bride of Chucky. The “Gin and Juice” singer capped off his speech with a rhyme directed at Flavor Flav, where he said the MC “looked like one of his blunts, except smaller.” No one is safe around Snoop.

#5: Grabbing KFC in Amsterdam with Willie Nelson

You’ll be hard-pressed to find two people that smoke up more than Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson. The two musicians are so passionate about their habit that they both started their own cannabis brands. So it’s fitting that when the two finally linked up, they indulged together. They met up in Amsterdam around 4/20 to smoke and play dominoes. Naturally, this led to the munchies, and they went to pick up some Kentucky Fried Chicken together ... The things we would all do to witness that interaction.

#4: Playing Fast Money in Family Feud

Throughout the show’s illustrious history, “Family Feud” has provided fans with many laughs and ridiculous one-liners. So it should come as no surprise that Snoop Dogg would be the source of a famous moment on the Feud. During Fast Money, host Steve Harvey asked the rapper to fill in the blank: “Pie in the what.” Without hesitating, Snoop said, “horse.” When reviewing the answers, a baffled Harvey walked around the set in dismay as the audience erupted with laughter. Thankfully, the misfire did not cost his team the game as Snoop’s other answers were good enough to win and earn his charity $25 thousand dollars.

#3: Inducting Tupac into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

When it comes to West Coast rap, the first name that comes to mind is Tupac Shakur. The late rapper is one of the best-selling artists of all time, and his songs still play in homes all over the world. When Pac was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017, there was no better person to induct the rap legend than his teammate at Death Row Records, Snoop Dog. During the speech, Snoop detailed his friendship with Shakur and how Pac was a strong Black man full of passion and creativity. Snoop even called his friend the “greatest rapper of all time.” That compliment means a lot coming from one of the best to ever do it.

#2: Creating His Own Youth Football League

As wonderful as he is with music and entertainment, giving back to his local community might be Snoop Dogg’s greatest achievement. Since 2005, the rapper has been running the Snoop Youth Football League in California. The idea behind the league was to instill values of teamwork, discipline, and respect, and more importantly, save kids from a life of violence especially within the inner-city. Not only did Snoop create the league, but he became the head coach of one team for well over a decade. This league means so much to Snoop, going so far as to say he would “give up rapping to be a football coach” in an interview with Billboard. Keep being you, Coach Snoop.

#1: Making the Album “Doggystyle”

At the end of the day, Snoop Dogg is one of the best rappers of all time, and he proved that right out of the gates with 1993’s Doggystyle. After working with Dr. Dre on 1992’s The Chronic, Snoop teamed up with the producer for his debut album the next year. With the legendary G-funk sound, Doggystyle was a landmark album for gangsta rap. With smash hits like “Gin and Juice,” and “What’s My Name,” Doggystyle opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling more than 806 thousand copies in its first week, making it one of the fastest selling hip hop albums of all time. After Doggystyle, we all knew the name of this exceptional rapper.
