We're gonna need a bigger fourth wall. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down our picks for the Top 5 Funniest References in Deadpool 2.

#5: “Frozen” (2013) & “Yentl” (1983)

Following Disney’s proposed acquisition of 21st Century Fox, the filmmakers behind “Deadpool 2” tried to work in a joke pertaining to the deal. At Fox’s request, the producers removed this joke, which Ryan Reynolds described as “a wise decision.” However, the film still contains a reference to Disney’s “Frozen,” as Deadpool points out the similarities between “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “Papa, Can You Hear Me?” from the 1983 film “Yentl.” Once you hear these two songs together, you’ll never be able to separate them. We really weren’t expecting to ever see a Disney animated fairytale or a Barbra Streisand musical referenced in an “X-Men” movie, which is exactly why this moment is so priceless.

#4: The DC Extended Universe (2013-)

Determined to distinguish itself from the MCU, the DCEU has strived to be dark and edgy with generally mixed results. Naturally, Deadpool pulls no punches when it comes to making fun of Marvel’s biggest competition. Given Cable’s brooding nature and reluctance to smile, Deadpool literally points out that his rival feels more like a product of the DC Universe. He even gets in a dig about the “Martha” incident from “Batman V Superman.” It might be on the nose, but we can’t blame Deadpool for saying what we’re all thinking.

#3: “James Bond” franchise (1962-)

Deadpool to Cast James Bond for Cable?! – The CineFiles Ep. 4

The James Bond movies are known for featuring a stylized opening credits sequence complete with a thematic song. The opening credits of “Deadpool 2” satirize 007 almost too well. For starters, Celine Dion sings the opening number, “Ashes,” which actually sounds triumphant enough to commence a film like “Skyfall” or “Spectre.” What’s more, the visuals encompass the same flair you’d find in a Bond picture, albeit while still maintaining Deadpool’s unique signature. Like its predecessor, the credits here poke fun at the cast and crew rather than acknowledging them by name. For example, instead of crediting director David Leitch, he’s merely referred to as “One of the Guys Who Killed the Dog in John Wick.”

#2: Marvel Cinematic Universe (2008-)

As much as Deadpool mocks DC, he takes just as many shots at the MCU. Cable’s artificial arm of course resembles the Winter Soldier’s, but the references don’t end there. Actor Josh Brolin has truly left his mark in Marvel history, as he not only plays Cable, but also brought the villainous Thanos to life in “Avengers: Infinity War.” Since Brolin portrayed these two characters and both films were released within just a couple weeks of each other, there’s no way Deadpool could resist drawing a parallel.

#1: “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” (2009)

Top 20 Deadpool Easter Eggs

As we all know, the depiction of Deadpool in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is one of the biggest blunders in the comic book movie genre. When Ryan Reynolds was given a chance to do Deadpool justice years later, he didn’t hesitate to ridicule the character’s previous incarnation. “Deadpool 2” takes things one step further. In an epic post-credits sequence, Deadpool goes back in time and kills the other vision of himself, aka Weapon XI. Deadpool isn’t done fixing the timeline, though. He also tracks down a circa 2011 Ryan Reynolds and takes him out before he can star in that abysmal “Green Lantern” movie. Now if only Deadpool could make it so “Blade: Trinity” never happened.
