British journalist O’Porter and Irish actor hubby O’Dowd made a big splash when it came time to announce their big news. In fact, you might say the “Bridesmaids” star and his wife made a chilling baby announcement during their ALS ice bucket challenge. Moments after O’Dowd’s dunked with ice water, he calls on “baby O’Porter” as his last nominee. The camera then pans to his wife, who’s dropping a mini cup of ice water over her adorable baby bump. She later confirmed the pregnancy on her Twitter account saying, “Thought we’d better mention it, before I got O’Busted!”

#19: Michael Bublé & Luisana Lopilato

Canadian crooner Bublé shared an intimate moment from home to announce that baby number two was on its way. The Grammy Award-winning artist posted a super sweet video starring his first born, Noah, and his actress wife Luisana Lopilato. In a tender moment, Bublé, asks his son, who’s dressed in Minion jammies, “Who’s that in there?” Noah walks over to his mom, who’s pulled her shirt up to reveal her tummy, points and says “baby!” The whole thing was captured by Bublé as Britney Spears’ “Oops I did It Again” played in the background. We see what you did there…

#18: Jessica Alba

It’s no surprise that Instagram has seemingly become the go-to social media platform for celebrity pregnancy announcements. Everyone finds a different way to break the exciting news, from lavish parties to intimate bedroom selfies. Jessica Alba found a happy medium when she posted this adorable pregnancy announcement with her daughters Honor and Haven in July of 2017. Alba and husband Cash Warren were expecting their third child together; and that December they welcomed Hayes Alba into the world! As her boomerang caption rightfully exclaimed, the couple are now outnumbered by their children three to two!

#17: Kelly Rowland & Tim Witherspoon

Former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland gave us a sneak peek of her baby’s future style when she posted an image to Instagram of a mini pair of Jordans beside a much larger pair, with the caption, ‘I’ll be stuntin’ like my daddy…” Not long after the subtle announcement, Rowland accidently let it slip during an interview that she and husband Tim Witherspoon were expecting a baby boy. The multi-talented singer handled the slip-up with humor, later apologizing to her unborn child. Following the birth of her son, Titan, Kelly released her first book, “Whoa, Baby” where she speaks candidly about her pre-and post-pregnancy experience.

#16: Justin Timberlake & Jessica Biel

We can think of no better way to celebrate a birthday than by surprising the world with a pregnancy announcement. Justin Timberlake took to Instagram in 2015 to inform the world that he and wife Jessica Biel were expecting their first child together. The couple, who married three years earlier, opted for a close up of Biel’s baby belly, with Timberlake planting a kiss on it for good measure. Timberlake captioned the photo with, “Thank you EVERYONE for the Bday wishes! This year, I'm getting the GREATEST GIFT EVER.” The couple welcomed another son in 2020.

#15: Lauren Conrad & William Tell

From reality TV star to fashion designer and author, L.C. is also a mother of two. Conrad was celebrating the good news with her musician-turned-entertainment lawyer husband William Tell, whom she had married in 2014 in a gorgeous California wedding – natch.

#14: Macklemore

Leave it to Macklemore to post one of the most heartfelt celebrity pregnancy announcements of all time! In early 2015, the Seattle based rapper, announced via that he and wife Tricia Davis were expecting their first child. The soon-to-be parents posted a video of Tricia receiving an ultrasound, with Macklemore sitting close by and holding her hand. The look of pure joy on their faces as they find out that they’re going to be parents is incredibly touching. Tricia gave birth later that year, and the two would welcome a second daughter to the family in 2018.

#13: Nick & Vanessa Lachey

The announcement debuting their third baby was a family affair that received tons of gushing comments on Instagram, but when it came time to announce baby number two, the Lachey clan kept it simple and sweet. Celebrating his third wedding anniversary to TV host Vanessa Lachey, the thoughtful pop star posted an image to Instagram showing their first born, Camden, running past a hand-drawn heart in the sand that says “It’s a girl.’ The caption read “Can’t think of a better way to celebrate 3 years of marriage to my beautiful @VanessaLachey than this! #family.”

#12: Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson fans received not one, but two awesome announcements in April of 2018. The actress posted a video to her Instagram account, explaining that her recent lack of social media output was directly related to the fact that she was pregnant! The adorable video shows Hudson, her two sons and her partner Danny Fujikawa holding balloons, before popping them to reveal the gender of their family’s newest addition. Turns out, it's a girl! Born in October of 2018, Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa is Hudson's first daughter, and first child with Fujikawa.

#11: Kevin & Danielle Jonas

Can you say Netflix and chill? Mrs. Jonas posted a hilarious photo of her and hubby Kevin snuggled up in bed to announce their second pregnancy. Dani captioned the image, “Prepping for baby number two! #babyjonas2.” The mom-to-be is pictured sporting some fabulous bed head while surrounded by all kinds of yummy snacks, while Kevin is seen reading the book, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting Again” with a look of shock on his face. The former stars of “Married to Jonas” inspired many envious fans to comment “OMG, Goals.”

#10: Blake Lively

When people think of the perfect Hollywood couple, they think of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. The two married in 2012 and welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2014. The announcement, which was posted on Lively’s former lifestyle site Preserve, featured images of the actress holding her baby bump and smiling profusely. The photos, which saw Lively surrounded by friends and family in an outdoor setting, are beautiful; reflecting the autumn time period in which they were shot. Lively gave birth to daughter number two in September of 2016, and number three in 2019.

#9: Jessica Simpson & Eric Johnson

Simpson loves playing dress-up, and spared no expense when she confirmed her first pregnancy with then-fiancé Eric Johnson. The blonde bombshell surprised fans on Halloween when she posted a picture of herself in a sassy mummy costume, with the caption, “It’s true! I am going to be a mummy!” Though not as “punny” as her first, the former pop star’s second pregnancy announcement was just as cute. In a picture posted to Twitter on Christmas Day 2012, her daughter is shown dressed up in candy cane stripes, sitting in the sand with the words “Big Sis” spelled out. The caption read, “Merry Christmas from my family to yours.”

#8: Katy Perry

While a social media post will certainly get the job done, Katy Perry opted to do something a bit more exciting for her pregnancy announcement. In March 2020, the singer released a music video for “Never Worn White”, and in it she offered up a lot more than simply a new visual. As the song comes to a close, we briefly get to see a brand new baby bump, one that Perry and fiancee Orlando Bloom reportedly kept secret for a very long time. It was a beautiful surprise for many fans, and the video instantly became a part of pregnancy announcement history.

#7: Tom & Giovanna Fletcher

Tom Fletcher and his wife Giovanna tied the knot in 2012 and welcomed their first child a year later. However, in between they posted this sweet video informing the world that they were expecting! The video, cryptically titled, “We Have Some News…”, features the couple carving pumpkins. However, at the end they reveal they’ve been carving the words “We’re having a baby”, the whole time. That earned them some serious originality points in our books. The duo was at it again in 2016 with their second child, this time coming out with a video titled “Player 2”; and again in 2018 with “Snow Way”.

#6: Olivia Wilde & Jason Sudeikis

Props to this actress and activist for completely slaying the pregnancy announcement competition. Wilde posted an adorable black and white photo to Instagram of her and son Otis sitting side by side, holding their exposed bellies. The caption simply reads, “Matching baby bumps.” Otis couldn’t look happier about having a new sibling as he looks up at his mom. With a big smile and effortless style, this mom-to-be makes being pregnant look like a breeze. This, of course, was Wilde’s second pregnancy with SNL alumni Jason Sudeikis.

#5: Gal Gadot

Gal Gadot enthralled viewers the world over with her star-making portrayal of Wonder Woman. So, it was only right that she slipped a “wonder” pun into her pregnancy announcement. The Israeli actress posted this sweet selfie in November of 2016 informing her followers that she and husband Yaron Varsano were expecting their second child; and captioned it, “So excited to share this wonder with you...” The photo features the two of them holding Gadot’s baby belly and sporting loving smiles. Our adoration for this picture is superseded only by our jealousy for the kid who gets to call Wonder Woman “mom”.

#4: Colleen Ballinger

Colleen Ballinger is perhaps best known for her online alter ego, Miranda Sings, a character which has seen her build up a massive following over the years. However, there was nothing funny about her emotional pregnancy announcement. In true YouTuber fashion, Ballinger documented her discovery for the entire Internet to see. The video, plainly titled “I’m Pregnant”, sees the social media icon checking her pregnancy test before realizing she is in fact, pregnant. From there the video jumps to Ballinger emotionally informing her friends and family that she’s expecting; and the results will bring a tear to your eye!

#3: Cardi B

Cardi B stunned everyone when she appeared on “Saturday Night Live” sporting a noticeable baby bump. The rapper, then surrounded by unconfirmed pregnancy gossip, kicked off her appearance on the show with a performance of “Bodak Yellow”. However, she hid her belly under an elaborate costume. But that was not the case when she came out later in the program to sing “Be Careful”. That time she trotted out on stage in a form fitting white dress; and as the camera panned down to reveal her stomach the crowd cheered their approval. Cardi B gave birth to a daughter in July of 2018.

#2: Jensen & Danneel Ackles

“Supernatural’s” Jensen Ackles married actress Danneel Harris in 2010 and the two have since expanded their family to five. They had a daughter in 2013 and welcomed twins a few years later. To announce the birth of these two new bundles of joy Danneel Ackles decided to post this cute photo to her Instagram account. The pic features a row of cowboy boots, one for each family member, and the caption, “Yep! Doublemint here we come!” It can be difficult to cut through the noise of so many celebrity pregnancy announcements, but we believe the Ackles did just that with this creative and totally adorable post!

Before we get to our top pick, here are some honorable mentions:

America Ferrera

Ellie Kemper

Tina Fey

Carrie Underwood

#1: Beyoncé & Jay Z

Queen B sent shockwaves across social media when she posted a gorgeous portrait of herself to Instagram on February 1, 2017 to tell the world she was having twins. The image then became the app's most liked photo of the year! While this was a pretty stellar announcement, we still think her first one stands the test of time. ‘Yonce waited until the very end of her mic-dropping performance of “Love on Top” at the 2011 MTV VMAs to unveil her bump – and the crowd, including Jay-Z, went wild!
