#10: King Kong Vs. T-Rex
Frostbyte | Micko
While smaller in scale to a lot of other Minecraft creations, it still packs a visual punch and is capable of stopping you in your tracks so you can admire the level of detail that’s gone into the construction. We’ve seen King Kong take on a lot of dinosaurs on the big screen, and this statuesque design is a commemoration to the eighth wonder of the world. Oh, and dinosaurs are cool too. We can’t let King Kong get all the praise, especially with the level of attention gone into the t-rex.
#9: Los Angelcraft
Fujiwara1990
It’s one thing to move from dirt houses to wood houses, but to recreate an entire city? That requires pure skill and dedication. Los Angelcraft has it all. Take a stroll through the residential areas, or take a trip downtown, even go hiking to see the famed Minewood sign, and then check out the Ferris Wheel on the pier. While you may need more than a few people on the server to make the city feel alive, it’s still a tremendous achievement, and if you spend enough time here, you may not feel the need to go to LA for real.
#8: Minecraft Middle Earth
Various
Without Sauron and the orcs roaming around, Middle Earth would be a fantastic place to visit, and even live in, if you don’t mind forgoing modern day luxuries. The landscapes are beautiful, and the cities are breathtaking. Minecraft Middle Earth is a community of builders dedicated to the collaborative recreation of significant landmarks in Tolkien’s high fantasy universe. Everything here is crafted meticulously by hand. There’ll be stretches of grass plains, to wondrous mountains and lakes. From the Shire to Rivendell to Isengard, you can visit all your favorite places.
#7: USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A
Vernithrax
The Enterprise is one of the most – if not the most – recognizable ships in all of science fiction pop culture, and there have been many variations of it across decades of Star Trek shows and movies. While the construct probably doesn’t have all the capabilities of the Enterprise seen on screen, such as the Transporters or Holodecks, you do get to admire it from the outside - and even inside - without having to deal with all the terrors of living in space. Damn Borgs.
#6: Adventure Time Candy Kingdom
Dr_Boomerang
It’s amazing how a kid focused show could become so widely popular with adults too, which is thanks to the quirky characters and witty writing. We feel like we’re going on another adventure with every episode. With this build, we can visit the Candy Kingdom for ourselves. This amazing mega creation is a delight to walk around in, and with the recommended texture pack, carries the same aesthetic as the art style seen in the show. We can allow our wacky selves to be free when we run through this map.
#5: Aurora City
Ancient
This is an amazingly constructed city, impeccably designed, with no detail left ignored. The architecture is unique, and every building is fully furnished, with multi-floor skyscraper apartments towering over the streets and habitable infrastructures also looming above. Every square block is utilized in some way. The city’s been in development for over five years now, and we can’t wait to visit it when it’s published. From the street lights to the archways, bridges, and plants, it honestly doesn’t even feel like this was made in Minecraft, that’s how impressive this build is.
#4: Titanic
Silas North
The Titanic was hailed as the unsinkable ship… ah well, it tried. Unlike a lot of other Minecraft creations based on real things and places still readily available to visit today, the Titanic construction is a wonderful opportunity to walk on deck and get a closer look at the ship, before, you know, it hit an iceberg. Head to the front, and you can even see Jack and Rose in all their blocky glory. Head inside and see all the luxuries the Titanic had to offer.
#3: Cleopatra’s Palace
MCFRArchitect
It’s been over sixteen hundred years since the palace from which Cleopatra ruled was plunged into the sea. Using films and images and whatever they had as references, eight builders part of MCFRArchitect constructed their very own vision of the palace, and ‘grand’ is the best way to describe it. Not only was the palace built, but the surrounding buildings and stalls, too. The fact that Minecraft lets us visit places – albeit blocky places – that existed a long time ago is a testament to the game’s capabilities, and the creative individuals who utilize them.
#2: Denmark
The Danish Geodata Agency
Holy moly. We know it’s hard to wrap our minds around, but this is literally a 1:1 scale recreation of the country of Denmark. It’s not a city, or even a region; it’s the whole freaking country, and it took over four trillion blocks to make over the span of several months, and had people from The Danish Geodata Agency, as all as the government working on it. Denmark’s cities and landscapes are beautiful, and not everyone has a chance to visit the country, but a lot of people do have Minecraft. When you’ve seen every video of the place, step into the virtual blocky version of it and begin your tour.
#1: WesterosCraft
Various
WesterosCraft is the product of hundreds of people and their love for both Minecraft and A Song of Ice and Fire, and it definitely shows. While the map is only 70% complete as of the beginning of 2017, the lands and buildings are intricately detailed, and our hearts are filled with a sense of adventure stepping into the server for the first time. Even Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays Bran in Game of Thrones, has shown interest in the project. Begin your journey to see all the iconic places in Westeros, and let’s hope there’s no wildfire lying around in Kings Landing.
