Top 10 Things We Want to See in The 100 Season 5

Top 10 Things We Want to See in The 100 Season 5
VOICE OVER: Emily Brayton WRITTEN BY: Mersini Karkoulas
Script written by Mersini Karkoulas

With season 5 coming back, here are the things we want to see! For the new season we want new grounder characters. It's been a while since we've really been introduced to any new Grounders who have become major players in the show. With Praimfaya destroying most of the world and its population, the show has narrowed its pool characters, but there's no doubt that there are some people who made it down into the bunker that we have never seen before! We also want to see the prisoners as villains, Octavia as Leader, the fallout from Kane's decision, flashbacks to earth before the first apocalypse, more about Eligius and the transport ship and what happened ini the bunker?

#10: New Grounder Characters

It’s been a while since we’ve really been introduced to any new Grounders who have become major players in the show. With Praimfaya destroying most of the world and its population, the series has narrowed its pool of characters, but there’s no doubt that there are some people who made it down into the bunker that we have never seen before. Or perhaps there are some other hidden Nightbloods out there in the world who survived the Death Wave. Since the show seems to be coming full circle, with Clarke’s position inverted as she goes from Sky Person to Grounder, it’s the perfect opportunity to introduce new Grounder characters who might be afraid of history repeating itself.

#9: The Prisoners as Villains

It’s not every day that a prison ship comes down from the sky, and it’s not difficult to imagine the trouble the prisoners are bringing to Earth with them. While it’s arguable that the original hundred were also prisoners, there is a huge difference between juvenile delinquents and criminals so bad they were sent out into space as penance. So far, all we know is that they were criminals turned miners put into hypersleep. As season 5 kicks off, it’s expected that they will take the place of the show’s villains, bringing a whole new set of challenges to the surviving characters.

#8: The Consequences of Kane’s Decision

When you know that only one hundred of your people can survive the apocalypse, tough decisions have to be made. Although Abby tried exclude herself from the lottery that would save her, Kane overrode this decision and placed her in there anyway. This is definitely going to cause some drama, since they are stuck together underground for an extended period of time. However, it is hard to fault Kane; not only does he love her, but she is one of the only capable doctors. Whatever Abby’s personal feelings might be, she’s invaluable to the continued survival of the species. Now it just remains to be seen how Abby handles the decision.

#7: Octavia as Leader

The show seems to have been building towards this for a long time. Octavia’s journey has been one of the best to trace throughout the show as she went from illegal child to warrior and now, to leader. She’s fierce and uncompromising, so it will be fascinating to see how those qualities translate to her leadership role. Considering her frustrations with the existing rules and traditions of the clans, whether they be Skaikru to Trikru, it will be interesting to see what kind of new society she builds from the ashes of the old ones.

#6: Flashbacks to Earth Before the First Apocalypse

Over the past four seasons we’ve only been given brief glimpses of what society was like before the first apocalypse that destroyed the Earth, and most of those have been in relation to Becca and the creation of A.L.I.E.. There’s been no indication of the political climate of the time, or what other people thought of Becca’s work. It would be nice to have a history of events that led to the first space stations being set up and why people lived on them, giving us a better insight to the history of the characters we have come to love.

#5: What Happened to Bellamy and Co. in Space

Escaping the Second Apocalypse became a desperate attempt at survival. As such, the fate of the company of seven that managed to escape Praimfaya via a shuttle to space is unknown. They did not make contact when they landed in the abandoned Go-Sci Ring, which had been part of the original Ark, nor did they return to Earth when it was safe. And how exactly did they survive on a station that was originally abandoned because it had limited life support systems? No doubt the answers to these questions will make for one major plot point in season 5.

#4: Time Jump Flashbacks

Six years is a long time for a show to skip, and the season 4 finale left fans with many unanswered questions. “The 100” is a show about survival, so naturally, we want to see how the characters survived the Second Nuclear Apocalypse! From how Clarke managed to not die despite Praimfaya presumably killing most of the food resources on the planet, to how the people in the bunker lived, and how Bellamy’s crew fared in space, there is undoubtedly a treasure trove of events that the writers for season 5 could draw upon to give answers.

#3: Madi

The last scene of season 4 certainly hit viewers with a lot of information, but one of the major components was the introduction of Madi, the girl with Clarke. Who she is and how Clarke came to be with her are two of the looming questions season 5 must answer. As a Nightblood, why was she not among the other young natblidas who trained with Lexa? Was she hidden and if so, by whom? Could she be the new Heda, or will she be disregarded as a new leader now that society has to start again from scratch? And finally, how will Clarke react when the only companion she’s had for the last six years is threatened?

#2: More About Eligius and the Transport Ship

The appearance of the transport ship in the final scene of season 4 was surprising, but anyone who had been paying attention throughout the season might have picked up on the tiny nods to the existence of Eligius, the mining penal colony. Eligius has played a major, yet downplayed part, within the world of “The 100”. It was revealed that the first Nightblood was developed for Eligius to protect its miners from radiation out in space. Its existence also proves that there are more humans in space than initially thought, and begs the questions of what they were mining and to what end? Most importantly, why have they decided to return to Earth now?

#1: What Happened in the Bunker

The last we saw of many cast members, they were tucked away in a radiation-proof bunker underground, preparing to wait out the worst of Praimfaya and its effects. Yet, they did not resurface when it was safe. This could simply be because the bunker is buried in rubble, but considering that Abby went into the bunker with the same brain affliction as Raven earlier in the season, it’s not hard to imagine that something more sinister has happened. Whatever the case, there’s no doubt that the people who went down into the bunker will emerge from it drastically changed by the experience.
